I think that there is a serius problem with the store...I Had 9800+ IP. I just bought Olaf (3150 IP) so by my calculations, i should have 6700+ IP.... The game says i have 3600... Did the price of Olaf change withought being posted? HELP!!!! Im saving IP for the new champ!!!
The glitch is only for the counter, not your actual IP. Close the game, and reopen it, and your IP should be normal. It is a fairly common glitch. I too freaked out the first time this happened for me lol.
I think log out and back in? The IPs will probably be right. I have actually shown negative IPs in the past.
If not, check your purchase log and send a ticket.
I bought my 3rd Quintes of 4.26 Armor and I didn't get it but it took my ip. I currently have a ticket open.
Ok, After 2 Games, it got fixed... i was seriusly freaked out about the purchase.

As others have mentioned, logging out and logging back in is usually the quick fix to an incorrect amount of IP/RP showing in the client.
