The intel HD is going to be really shitty for anything except league, but it cant possibly be worse than the 10(?) year old GPU in the old one.

Seriously, what the hell did that thing even use to get 3GB of ram? three 1GB sticks and an empty slot?

You are basically looking at a 400% increase in free RAM for running programs (windows 10 would use about 40% of 3GB), which is going to result in massive increases in speed all around, even with the new computer having no GPU and sharing RAM with graphics.

There are way better laptops in the price range (that i would assume it is in by the specs), but it is fine for LoL, writing, mathematical/art/design programs, ect.

that laptop will be able to run league on max spec with decent framerate (60). I woudl advice settings on medium so you get 100+ framerate, it will be better than min spec anyway. Besides league...it will have trouble running most games, you probably could run Smite and other games alike but most game will b have to be set on low if you have any chance of playing them.

If you are studying engineering or any graphic science you will also run into problems since that PC will struggle to run the CAD and Picture Edition Software, it will run them but expect slow as hell performance and probably overheating. If you are studying anything else it will suffice.

If you truly only plan to use it for league and uni (not more games) more than the GPU you should be looking at the quality of life changes, like a HD screen display, a good wifi and Ethernet card and probably a good set of speakers or at least a decent sound card. Pretty much any computer made on 2010+ will run league on mid spec with decent framerate so you shouldn't worry about it too much.
