There is way way more to it than just that. You have your flay (push/pull) which is very hard to master IMO, lantern, and hooking and making the right decision to press q again to do your Ulti+flay combo. There is also his passive.
Lulu is a point and click champion which is why I consider her an easier champion to master.

Most of the time I really don't need his kit. I probably have only played him two or three times since season reset, but I know how to play him if I wanted to.

ShieldWriter061 votesIn my opinion, both are about equal skill. Thresh and Lulu both have hard decision making. Lulu has to decide who and when to use her abilities, which is actually quite complicated in teamfights until you are halfway done. Thresh is all about plays, and you have to be able to decide whether I should lantern now or later, pop ult to save or flay, or hook this person to save a teammate. Now to the author's question. Thresh is an all around good support, with a little bit of everything. You can only get better at him. If you have a general friendly attitude, okay team communication, and some time, thresh is quite rewarding. Lulu, is a thing on her own. She was supposed to be a support, but her solo lane potential is much higher. With the buffs for her solo lane, they kinda nerfed her support style. She is, in my opinion, a poke oriented laner. I suggest vel'koz for that, even though he is considered mid laner. She is much more complicated than thresh, but much more confusing. TL;DR: Thresh has no skill cap, and is more rewarding, while Lulu has been kinda nerfed out of the support position. If you want poke, go with Vel'koz. Otherwise, get Thresh.
disregardable1 votesIf you only want a support, Thresh is a much more consistent pick. He's does alright in most lanes, he's got some fun mechanics. You feel a little invincible when you play him. Lulu is alright as a support, but her range is short and she's not really tanky. Whimsy isn't really as useful as it sounds, and her harass can be lackluster depending on the lane. But she's really fun top! With a bit of farm, her harass REALLY hurts, and her short range isn't a problem top.
IcyPepper1 votesLulu. Thresh has hard engage and a sweet rescue in his lantern, but Lulu can shield (good for early trades), a poke and slow that can be aimed differently if you Pix someone (more range/different angle, it's nice), and whimsy is not too shabby for escapes or foiling ganks.
Her ultimate can be used to clutch a hard engage, and can be used on anyone (even the tank!).
