mmr is linked between game modes

I think somehow it must be. I played ARAM pretty much the whole way up to 30 only playing a normal very rarely. after I hit 30 I did my provisional matches going 4-6 in them, and it places me in bronze 1. okay seems about right - but in my next matches I notice I am playing with and against silvers and sometimes golds. I am getting crushed by them. I am not good at summoners rift and cant compete at this level. so how did my mmr get up so high?

I have only 26 victories in normal mode and have never played ranked before. I am 4-10 now and I am completely outclassed.
