why do we call him Rango

ok this has been sitting in my head for a while. i don't know why but all of a sudden i just started calling him Rango and i noticed alot of other people calling him that. why the flip do we call this? i mean who started it?

They've been calling him rango since 2011 Other names include Gengar, and Raccoon-dog
