I mostly mute my toxic teammates. But I have a question, why can we get in trouble for verbal abuse and negative attitude, when Riot has a Enable/Disable chat filter? It is literally, click this button to see what is going to get you chat banned. What should be there is an option to disable offensive phrases over all chat. But honestly, why is there even a button here to disable a chat filter, if we are going to get banned for offensive language?
I actually don't know if you can get punished for simply swearing, but I was always under the impression that swearing wasn't the issue, it was the context of your message. If your chat message is "Motherfucker, you did a goddamn good job" and get reported, I don't see how you can get punished for that.
The issue comes when you're flaming, plainly using hate words without context like faggot or nigger are more than just swear words, and otherwise swearing while flaming "You fucking idiot" isn't punished because you swore but because you're being unsportsmanlike.
If the above is true, then there are still people who, regardless of whether they feel they should report you or realize you're not doing anything worth reporting, don't like to be exposed to swearing. Or maybe you're a kid who's parent allows you to play League on the stipulation that you leave the filter on. It has many uses for omitting swearing in allowed context where that is wanted and is a good service to have in order to appeal to a more diverse player base.
because its not like korea where they dont care what you say because they know its a random computer nerd who probably knows nothing and they mute the people. They never report for language. But here in the west where everyone is a little girl and cries about their feelings if you say the truth about them in a video game like being bad when they are but the west doesnt mute they continue to talk and cry about their feelings. Why is the west like this? who knows but its sad because alot of westerners like to seem big and tough yettt they cry when you say something mean in a video game Q_Q . And the only reason its punished in the west and not korea is because korea doesnt care alot of players play the game as it is, in the west we have rocket scientist mayor doctor marker lyte who's job is basically to make it seem to the public like he is good old clean man whos a good whole person when in reality he is a marketer trying to make easier profits for his company. What other game is this much against stuff like language, boosting you name it riots the only company that actually cares about that stuff and because its good for marketing. Its alllll aboutttt the $$$$$
The chat filter and mute button is NOt the "I Can be an Ass and say anything I want button". LOL It is there to let players mute someone who is annoying or throwing off their game.
You can curse in game ( within reason ) You may be punished if you swear at others, use it excessively, use it as an obvious Mean insult..and there are certain words that are keywords that will almost always earn a report.
So: No one curse word won't get you in trouble, But And I stress: The Mute button is Not there to allow anyone to just be a complete Ass !

Well what I mean is in the client settings, if we can even remotely get punished or looked down upon for jokingly calling someone names and they call us names back. Why have it if it gets us in trouble even in the slightest? Because there are some people who actually screenshot the foul language and ticket report it.
I could tell you Riot's stance on it but lets be real here... some people take reporting to far !!! There is no doubt about it, but if you can see it from the other side maybe someone misunderstands you (and your friend ) joking around.
My friend and I play in the same house at times and her humor is dry and she says things like "you have no Balls !!" ..I laugh most times, yet she got turned in one time for 'verbal abuse'. Now because she never got a warning before it meant nothing..but sometimes things get carried away...
I guess what I am trying to say is maybe this should be talked about :) At times it seems like toxic and it isn't.
