what was the recording thing that riot talked about
the one in game you could record your games with

I think it saves all your games replays. So it acts like replay.gg. So you can view cool plays you have done instead of recording them. Im assuming though like it will only save games that you view or choose to save. It won't save every single one.
If you have the new client, you can download replays for your games from your match history. You can record clips of your game as a webm when you play back the replay.
