How Riot deals with Boosters
There is no way to distinguish between boosters and hackers. They look exactly the same in game data, because the things that set them off are the fact that they play much much better, and they play from a different place. If a hacker has the means to hack into an account, chances are the hacker can make a really good script that plays perfectly. I feel like outright banning them instantly is not the right path to go. So here is my suggestion:
If an account is suspected of boosting, force the account to change their password. When they try to log in give a message that says that their account is suspected of boosting, please change your password. The account would need his/her email, and when the password is change 1 of 2 things happen:
- The suspected boosting stops because it was a hacker, and now the hacker doesn't know the password
- The boosting continues irregularly, which means that they are most likely in collaboration w/ the booster
I've heard complaints about being banned like this, and the only thing Riot can say right now is that they:
- "Thoroughly Investigated"
- It is obvious that the account was boosting
These types of responses are largely unsatisfying, and if Riot showed that they have at least tried to double check and make sure the account was boosting, we would feel better about these kinds of things
