Question to @Lyte or anyone on the behavior team On Ranked Rewards

Check out the Season 3 rewards FAQ!

As it stood, end of season Ranked Rewards were a tool to reward you "based on the tier" you achieved regardless of bans, chat restrictions, or any form of Punishment. They were based on the merit of player skill and nothing else, positive enforcement for player skill.

Fast forward to season 5 and Riot has done some wonderful things to Reform, through punishment, players who have tendencies to cheat, feed, and act toxic. I happen to fall under the latter category and as such, was banned for verbal toxicity. I was frustrated at feeding teammates, as many of are, and because I believed my time is more valuable than mine and others' feelings, I made the mistake of expressing myself negatively. A pretty bad mistake, but we get second chances, and I was unbanned on the 11th of November (2 week ban).

However, due to the timing of the ban, I, and many players that are reforming, might not be eligible for Ranked Rewards. A positive reinforcement system previously based on skill and NOT behavior. It is a new season therefore new system, and I am all for that. It seems ranked rewards is now a reward system based BOTH on skill and behavior. Good, higher standards for league players to shape the community despite the fact the announcement was not made at the begging of the season nor within 3 months of the end of the season.

BUT! Riot has stated that this season Rewards will be given to those previously toxic players who have been reformed for 3 months prior to the end of the season.

I see a HUGE problems with this: If rewards, which were based on skill, are now based on skill AND behavior, you are excluding those players who WILL AND ARE reforming simply because they don't make the deadline. Should there be a deadline for reformed behavior? This goes against promoting good behavior and skill, as an arbitrary date SHOULD NOT EXIST if you are trying to reward good behavior.

If you are trying to promote reformed behavior why not give those reformed players, who have been neutral or positive, rewards after demonstrating reformation for 3 CONTINUOUS months? Get rid of the arbitrary deadline and instead REWARD good learned behavior as that is the goal. Is it not?

Keeping the deadline says that you do not care to reward players who do not reform by YOUR deadline. If that is the case I urge you to reconsider why you punish and reward players in the first place.

Actually, they had the policy last year too and this year's was on the support page since like March. This wasn't sprung on players out of nowhere (not entirely).

While you urge Riot to do whatever it is you want, I urge you to not sacrifice good sportsmanship for good play, because it isn't remotely necessary to do so.

Did you read the whole post?

I agree with you 100% and I don't plan on making the same mistakes but that is not the point of this post, as I am sure you overlooked.

The point is to ask Riot why they only plan on rewarding players who reform by an arbitrary deadline and not those who don't even have time to prove they are reformed.

It sounds like you are suggesting that rewards should merely be postponed for punished players, and that they would receive their rewards 3 months down the line if they exhibit positive behavior after their ban has expired. Frankly, I do not believe that level of special treatment is deserved. If you are really remorseful about your behavior, it would make sense for you to accept that the punishment you're receiving is fair.

And... don't you think you're focusing on a relatively minor issue? If you're receiving not just ranked restrictions but actual 2 week bans, you are on the edge of getting permabanned. If you behave from now on, you get to keep your account. The border and the one skin should not really be the main motivation on your mind.

I am saying that players who reform should be rewarded. It's not postponing anything. If you reform for 3 months, you get your border back. Remember, those that are currently unbanned will still not get rewards. What is the difference between a player who reformed 3 months and a day before the deadline and a player who reformed 2 months and 29 days before the deadline besides 2 days? Should the second player nor be rewarded for reforming? Remember, this is about REWARDing players, not continually punishing them after they have learned their lesson. The ban was enough for me and many others who don't flame for fun, but out of frustration. A chat restriction would have been enough, any sort of tangible punishment would have been nice but I got a 2-week ban. Pretty harsh for a first time offender.

I am not concerned at all because my behavior is easily controllable. I have never received another punishment, period. Just a 2-week ban for complaining about other's gameplay in a toxic way. Like I said, and maybe you'll understand this third time, It was a MISTAKE. I was surprised I didn't get chat restricted or ranked restricted (if that's how it works) instead of a 2 week ban because I hadn't been punished previously. But that is the way the AI works.

Please keep your feelings in check, your thoughts rational, and the discussion on topic. My motivation is my concern. This is not a discussion about your moral quandaries.
