Champion Select Trolls
Hello All and Hopefully Rioters,
I was recently unbanned on the 11th of September after verbally abusing my teammates who were not playing well. That was my bad, it happens and I learned. I'm glad there are systems in place to keep verbal abusers in check and soon intentional feeders, two big problem groups that I don't plan on joining. However, there are none for those that troll in champ select. I would like to know if Riot is working on anything to punish and more importantly reform players who do not adhere to the order of champion select resulting in ruined games and tilted players before the game even begins.
Anecdote:
Recently, this happened to my team. I was first pick, called and locked in 'X-champion mid', then our third pick instantly locked 'Y-champion'. The game starts and I go top to try to make things work, because I wanted to win, while 'Y-champion' goes mid. The problem is the team started angry, our bot lane was upset resulting in them feeding, and everyone started the game disheartened because this is such a common occurrence. I ask my team to report 'Y-champion' for trolling in champions select and 'Y-champion' proceed to report me for verbal abuse.
I'm done with any form of verbal abuse as I've learned my lesson thanks to the system we have, but there is no system in place to keep players like 'Y-champion' in check. I've also decided to be more vocal about things that I think can make the game better for two reasons, one: Someone implemented the banning system to make the game a better experience and although I learned the hard way, It is a better game when you don't lash out in anger and instead support your team, even if they are struggling. Two: I think the community CAN and does have valid suggestions which is why I am writing this post and encourage others to do so with thought and clarity.
There currently isn't an option to report those who abuse champ select in way. My suggestion is to implement a reporting system, in champion select, where a real-time AI can validate reports once all players are locked in and the countdown begins much like the post-game verbal abuse AI.
Is Riot working on anything to prevent or reform those players that abuse the Champion Select process? If so, what?
Thanks, From a fan of your game.
'X-champion' and 'Y-champion' are used to preserve anonymity.
