Is the LP gained/lost in ranked random?

I'm at a point trying to climb out of Silver 5, but it is impossible when if you have an average of 1 win for every loss and the amount lost is always more than what's gained. What's worse, is that it's seemingly random! I will get 17 LP with an A+ in a win, and 20 in a different game when I get a B. But the amount lost is still always more, still regardless of what your grade was. So my question is... is it random? I would love a Red's answer.

Its not random. Its based on your teams MMR vs your opponents. When your team is higher you gain less and lose more. The reverse is true if your MMR is lower.

Blue team = get more LP and lose less LP. Red team = get less LP and lose more LP. This is how it works now (atleast to me). It's the reverse of what was in season 5.
