Are Alienware Laptops any good?

I'm trying to get a new gaming laptop this Black Friday weekend, and surprisingly my search has lead me to Alienware. I know the company has a stigma for being overpriced, but I'm really quite impressed with what they're offering.

Here's basically what I want from my gaming rig:

  • HIGH QUALITY. I don't want anything that looks or feels like a chinese piece of crap. (Lookin at you, Lenovo/Gigabyte). This pertains to and is not limited to: WIFI connectivity, Heat dissipation, Keyboard tactile feedback, flimsyness of any component, trackpad, loose ports, etc etc.

  • Durability. AW Laptops frankly look like giant blocks of astro-shyt, so I'm hoping they've got the tankiness to justify it.

  • Ability to play medium/low tier games like League/Starcraft/Warframe on decent settings at 60+FPS while streaming.

  • Must be a laptop. Inb4 "why don't you just build a Desktop"

Can anyone with an AW share their experiences with me, or warn about any criteria that I have that AW doesn't satisfy?

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for a good gaming laptop?

i have a m14x rev1 that plays said games on ultra at 60fps 1080p, on a tv right now, with no problems. The biggest issue i have is the battery, get about 1.5hr on max settings, but other than that i love it. There are better laptops out there for a bit more but the full led look caught me and i bought it. Also, with alienware you dont get the shitty dell service but a real USA service that is really quick. I had to get my whole mouse replaced and they sent a guy out the next day and replaced the whole kb free. I would buiy again.

I had one some 5+ years ago, I wanna say it was like a dual core but it lasted quite a few years and there support was really good. Another thought would to look into Asus Rog laptops, my neighbor has one and he loves it. He uses it as desktop replacement. The smaller ones seem rather portable but with short battery life. If you do choose to go the AW route, custom make it, don't use one of there premade specs. With AW you pay for the brand I gotta say there one of the most expensive. Asus always makes top tier products and they're always my first pick when it comes to motherboards and gpus.

there good computers but just remember that aleinware is owned by dell and you may spend more money for the exact same computer that dell offer in a non aleinware platform. My advice is use the cyber Monday deals and get one off cyberpowerpc.com <--- that way you can get a good price and have it costom

They are costly, but I think are worth. Mine is a desktop replacement (( I decided to go full bore and get an 18" SW with i7 and dual 770m in SLI)). I love it. However it is 22 pounds and carrying it across one concourse of Atlanta's airport to abother was a bit of a work out. lol

I got an Alienware laptop and sprung for a bunch of upgrades. It has completely died twice in the year and a half that I've owned it.

I've learned it needs to be on a cooling pad at ALL times or else the mother board will blow... Second time it went, I was just looking at old pics. Wasn't even playing games or taxing it at all...

In my opinion, Alienwares are pieces of shit. Will never buy again.

I have the mx17 and it is awesome. Overpriced, yes, but if you aren't a peasant just get whatever you want and tell the retards who question your choice to fuck off and go work at mcdonalds. It has an hdmi in which is very rare on latops so I can play all consoles on it which is awesome.
