By the nature of the software, every screen capture program will impact your FPS and your connection.

If you're live streaming, use OBS. It's free, and it's very configurable (I think I've even seen League plugins to change how your stream looks when you're in game vs loading screen vs in lobby). If you're looking to save video and upload it to YouTube later, I recommend DXTory. It's been a while since I used it last, but I remember looking around at a lot of other YouTubers and they recommended it over Fraps.

The only ones that don't hurt FPS are the ones that are specifically made to run on the GPU. Only newer, and relatively high-end cards (my 660ti and better models can do it, and my r9 280x started it with AMD).

With AMD it's called raptr (Gaming Evolved). With nVidia it is called Shadowplay. Shadowplay has been around longer, and started it, with AMD catching up last year. Shadowplay is much, much more stable and reliable, but both do the job, even if you have to fiddle with settings a lot and get used to their nuances.

Of course, both are free, super fast (little to no impact on performance, even with games like Metro 2033), BUT they have some pretty big drawbacks. one, you have to make an acocunt and be connected at all times with their really, really shitty bloatware. Both are just a sad excuse for a Steam copy, and there is no way around the HDD grinding as they steal your datas. But, they are simply the best you can possibly get for efficiency and speed, while on the same system. They take up a LOT of hdd space for videos (if you record full HD 60 FPS. 15-20 mins of gameplay is about 3-4GB, but you can compress it on the fly, too).

There are external means to do it (another computer just to stream the video passively). 100% stable, and since it's passive, no impact at all on performance. but harder and more expensive to setup.

for things that lower framerate a bit, and are CPU intensive instead of the faster GPU stuff, if you have resources for it (which league itself doesn't take much), go for DrCyanide's suggestions.

It all depends on your situation and personal preference.

850m is a laptop GPU, so if you use the laptop, you do use it already :p It does work with shadowplay. all you need to do is download shadowplay and set the recording options. pretty easy.
