In 4 years.. I just left my first game.

I feel so guilty :( I have had so many games ruined by leavers. But I couldn't deal with this game. It was a normal game but thats all I play.

Everyone calls something.. one play keeps changing there was mid and jungle left.. I ask which they wanted.. they picked Malzhar so I assumed they were mid and picked Fid with smite (As I have only played the new jungle once so far and I wanted to try someone with sustain this time)... so I check my masteries and flick back and see three players have smite selected and Malz has exhaust. Yi with smite gets picked as time expires.. I look down at the chat and apperently I am mid I try to change at the last second and fail to. I actually never played mid fid... maybe once.

I get into game. I type into chat "what is happening, where am I?.. please don't pick at the last second in future." They ignore me for a min and a half then say I am jungle.. but I point out that Yi has bought a jungle item.... I waddle over to blue eventually... but yi gets there first and out smites me and tells me I am mid... then palmed smashed the keyboard into chat and I left.

I am a horrible person. :'( please forgive me.

The only reason I don't leave games more often is because you can't report people if you leave.

It sounds like you were playing Blind Pick. This kinda stuff is an eventuality in that mode, unfortunately, and if you haven't had this stuff happen to you before, you're very lucky. I suggest moving to Draft or Team Builder.

what game was it? ranked? normal? what level are you? and your teammates?

EDIT: found the game on lolking. Normal, bronze/silvers. I'm sorry for you :(

I can understand some leaves but this is not the case.

You could at least try mid. Additionally smite could be interesting on other lanes.

e.g.: All team could get free health back if all were to smite red buff.

just sayin you could at least try. (btw i used to left games quite often back in my days. now it is almost impossible unless I uregntly need to go somwhere.)

We have mixed messages, a HORRIBLE attitude from Riot(blunt statements like 'fix your connection' with no sympathy), and anecdotes coming in from all over of people being punished for having to restart the client, or for disconnecting twice, etc.

I'm probably going to get downvoted for this, but I really think people are blowing this way out of proportion. Bottom line, if you weren't affected by LeaverBuster you're unlikely to get affected by these new changes. The messages have maybe been a bit unclear, sure, but Riot isn't going to be punishing random people for a single leave in a four year period. My assumption is that it's intentionally obfuscated so that people can't try to game the system.

This whole system is a giant blunder, and it has made me lose most of what trust I had left in Riot.

If something this minor makes you lose trust in Riot, it seems there wasn't much trust there to begin with. I get that, I truly do. There are some things Riot does that are just weird and unnecessary from the perspective of the players, like the random chat room destruction that they were forced to revert (somewhat) a few days later or the fact it still hasn't been explained why the old forums had to be crushed into the Boards so suddenly.

Sorry, bit of a tangent. I urge you to just give it some time and see how things go. Contrary to what people seem to think, Riot has absolutely zero incentive to blanket punish their playerbase. If the system doesn't work properly, it will be worked on until it's at least passable.

I haven't left one game since I played S2, as much as I wanted too. Your situation might have made me mute them all in chat, and focus in my lane. Honestly, I don't blame you for leaving a team as such, but you don't have to worry about the new LEAVERBUSTER system, only for Chronic AFKERS.

you probably saved yourself a lot of trouble by leaving that game. i feel sorry for anyone else in that game who wasnt part of the obvious trolling since playing 4v5 is never fun though.

I dunno, I guess I have faith that Riot isn't acting in bad faith. Maybe they'll mess up and punish people too much, but I don't think they're trying to ruin players' days. And if they do mess up, they'll fix their system so it works.
