The Problem with League of Legends

The biggest problem with League of Legends is that the players who are genuinely trying to get better at the game are punished by dedicating their time to perform. The most discouraging aspect of League of Legends is when a player who is trying to get better get stuck dealing with impossible situations. In any situations in multiple games you are dealt with a challenge in which if you are really skilled, you can over come the challenge. In a situation where a player is challenged with an impossible adversary the player is faced with discouraging reality. No matter how good you are, you are limited by your teammates. In terms of statistic each lane/ role has 50% of winning or losing the game. So in theory there is a 20% chance of you winning regardless of how bad you are. But there is also a 20% certain defeat regardless of how good you are. Faker, no matter how good he is, will not get past 80% win rate. Just as the worst bronze player will never drop below 20% win rate. The statistic itself punishes 20% of the League of Legends player simply for trying. That is the real problem with League of Legends. Statistic indicate that no matter how good you are, you can not carry to the point where you are relevant 1 out of every 5 games. This is excluding statistic where players are dealt with 4vs5 situations and can not remake. Another big factor to League of Legends aside from all of this stress is the constant reminder of almost every mistakes they have made in game by the peer toxicity of the community's expectations. Truth is, LCS is not solo-que. It's an entirely different games where the expectations of LCS somehow falls upon solo-que and players have a false sense of reality of what League of Legends really is. The sense of high expectation meeting a heavily high percentage of discourage lead to stress. This generates even more toxicity in League of Legends and thus players are constantly under stress. This is the real problem of League of Legends. This is the biggest dilemma of League of Legends. You are punished 20%-50% of the time for playing the game and constantly reminded that this unfair disadvantage that is stacked against you, is your own fault. I'd love to solve this problem myself if I know the answer to it.

So basically your complaint is that league is a team game? Might I recommend a different game, like perhaps try some RTS games if you want a single player experience.

the math is way off. There isn't a 20% certain defeat, I don't even know how you came to that conclusion. care to enlighten me?

The biggest struggle with this problem in my opinion is that the solution to this problem can not be implemented without someone abusing it. If you change match making that way, toxicity and flaming can be used to force someone out of rage quit to prevent yourself LP loss. If you implement voice chat into the game, people will be more vulnerable to verbal abuse and harassment. If you change the way the game is you split the community into those who disagree with changes and those who do. Either way there is actually a problem with non existing solution. I'm not writing this to complain. I'm writing this to shed a light into an actual problem for the MOBA genre and for players to discuss and participate in opening their mind to new perspective while they play the game. So maybe they can take the game differently to eliminate stress, be more critical to their role within the game, and become a more critical thinker when it comes to the game they are passionate about. It's a discussion thread, not a rant, not a vent. Because seriously, I've played this game for 6 years. I think this is a conversation that need to be said. Or at least should be a topic worth discussing about.
