I also want the community to weigh is on their thoughts. Also have you heard of a Single lawsuit in the US against hacks of a video game?

And I mean like ddos/speedhacking/cheating. Not jail breaking or copying and burning.

DDoS isn't just a gaming thing. Hacking and cheating are on a case by case basis, but DDoS is fully illegal. People who DDoS and get caught face possible jail time.

I've heard of some interesting stuff over in japan and korea involving virtual goods/property laws, where items were sold (by friends) without the account holders permission and it was considered theft, profits had to be returned and items refunded along with a lot of other crazy shenanigans. Currently virtual goods / virtual property laws are in a very grey area of the law, and companies (much like riot who sell you a 'license' to the game that can be revoked at any time for any (or no) reason) are lobbying hard for laws to be made both in their favor and very vaguely worded to give them as much room to find loop holes as possible.

It's a federal offence in practically anywhere with a functioning legal system - usually accompanied with a maximum of 10 years jail time. Oh and that's on top of a fine that can range wildly from 5000$ to 500 000$.

Also, you will probably never be able to touch a computer again in your life.

I do understand this but I am also asking about civil lawsuits. And what the community feels not what is actually legal.
