Getting to Gold

Can I get solid advice on getting into Gold? Last season, I started to play ranked and it took me a while to finally get out of Bronze into Silver. This season I have made it to Silver 1 (but dropped back to silver 2, though I am now in my promos for silver 1 again). I feel like it is a lot more challenging here than in bronze because I know my opponents are getting better. I also notice people are better at farming too, which is something I am working on.

But I want advice on how to do better at this elo (even though I'm not that much higher up). I usually mid or support, but can top or adc. Any non-troll advice is highly appreciated.
