Riot doesnt like highlighting any negative attention.. they try very hard to handle things behind the scenes..
if you start shaming people it goes against their idea of what they are trying to create..
Riot Lyte had this idea of retraining people how to think and by hiding from the general public negative publicity about this game.. when people post things and highlight the events that occur inside the game it goes against their goal of creating a perceived environment..
give you a real life example..
black lives matter sprung up because cops kill black people right?
but cops kill more white people than black people annually in America..
1% of the black people killed in America are by cops.. vs 3% of all the white people killed..
but ... here is why this is important to think.. the media creates an atmosphere of a certain belief..
... Riot spent alot of time .. which equates to alot of money to stop people from doing this.. exposing negativity and stop public shaming..
Think of some streamers for an example..
we will look at Tyler1 and Dunkey..
both toxic and entertaining when not happening in your game.. both are actually relatively mechanically skilled at the game..
When Dunkey was punished he stopped making LOL content... even though he still plays every now and then he is done freely advertising the game..
when Tyler1 was punished he created another account and kept doing his thing.. than Riot aggressively tried to make him stop leading to more attention being brought on him.. leading to Riot doing underhanded tactics by communicating with outside business partners like Twitch to remove him..
Twitch over extended their written rules trying to accommodate Riot.. this caused Tyler1 going from 50 views to 8k views and now he has a Sub button.
this all became possible because Riot is trying to create an environment built on fictional ideas..
.. now lets go into another real world situation.. controlling people ...
I cant remember the prison riot but it was due to strict control of the prisoners and poor treatment..
This is an important factor as to why some massive games fail.. or tapper off..
WOW is expected to be dead by 2025..
this game 'LOL' should push till around 2035 unless they panic and do a drastic shift that will ruin the stability of the relationship of its player base sooner.. or they figure out a way to extend their life with more creative ways.
my definition of Dead is basically when LOL's servers end up as populated as the PBE... i have some screen caps of sitting in ranked que for over an hour for a game.
Funny thing is that Riot has hit a point of increase and decline are now a regular pattern in their player base and they are trying new ideas .. or repackaging old ideas.. to keep and increase their player base..
so.. to answer your question... Riot does not want public shaming because it goes against the fantasy they are trying to create.
I personally feel its a waste of effort, but its honestly should be looked at as to what caused that moment instead of the moment and punishment..
heres the thing.. does the Punishment = the crime ?
if i drive my car and speed +5 miles over the speed limit and get pulled over and go to jail.. what is my motivation for stopping?
if i get a ticket for a minor infraction than i am more likely to stop..
I believe in muting over Perma banning.. (2-3 month mute punishment)
most feeding and problems start in chat.. and heres the thing that Riot hasnt grasped yet..
When the player gets muted.. they need to be stopped from seeing other players talk as well..
because when they do or say something and get feed back than they are more inclined to continue their actions.
lets look at reporting.. if you report a problem in one location.. you create a ticket.. someone has to look at the ticket and then perform an action, (either ignore or act on it.. but still an action)
than if you open another ticket using another avenue than you are doubling the work of a person..
than you post it on the forum ... you now are tripling the work of someone.
now.. if you have a real job and do real life things.. would you like to do the same job 3 times that has been done one time to completion with no added benefit?
So accept a constant fact.. you will meet people that you will disagree with. You have only the power to report them through the channels provided. and going above that you violate Riots user agreement. making you equally at fault.
hopefully this gives you a perspective outside the game.. into some cost analysis and touching real world things.. so next time you feel you want to highlight how your feelings got hurt... maybe you should consider doing some push-ups first.
