About gold inactivity elo decay

So, in the last patch inactivity decay was removed from gold because it's not a competitive tier. I was quite curious about this because it is inconsistent with the idea of getting a victorious skin as that shows you are more competitive/more skilled than most. Thoughts?

Personally, I think Gold is the level you can reach without playing actively, every single day. I have a few friends who casually play ranked, maybe once a week-ish who are in Gold, and they're not going to climb higher without dedicating more time. Could be wrong, but oh well.
