Mob Mentality and Excessive Community Bullying

I refuse to chat·10/19/2015, 5:02:55 AM·1 votes·414 views

So on my main account I've struggled with toxic players, and unfortunately I have a bad habit of retaliating to the bullies and trolls, which doesn't help anyone.

So I have my other account that I play when I'm frustrated at the community, and I've never said a word on this account "I refuse to chat." I pick obvious champion rolls to be as clear as possible in champ select, generally fill any role people didn't claim, and ping accordingly in game. I honor players that played well post screen, and move on. It helps me re-learn to play the game without retaliating to toxicity, and I usually play better and handle toxic players better when I go back to my main account.

And Yet...

Even on this account where I never speak a word, I am reported by my team for verbal abuse and negative attitude nearly every single game. I have usually a small premade group on my team (anywhere from 2 to all 4 players) that might bully me just because they want to make me say something or get a reaction. But when I ignore them, they get SO MAD. I've had players from both teams tell me to kill myself at length in all caps, and many many many other creative racial or homophobic slurs, and sometime actual literal threats on my life, the most recent I remember is someone saying they will find my address, rape me, then rip out my lungs through my throat. And when one the first person says in all chat "hey can you please report this person for x reasons," instead of saying anything like, "why" or "how do I know if they said anything, they haven't said anything in all chat," almost every single time the whole enemy team says "okay, sure!" or worse, joins in on the insults, slurs, and encouraging suicide.

So as calmly as I can, I just have one question...

What. The. Actual. Fuck. Is. Wrong. With. You. People?

I have been doing my best to handle toxic players and have stopped retaliating and speaking altogether, and things just get worse and worse. Why would you ever encourage someone to kill themselves or give them literal death threats, when they have said nothing and someone on the other team just asks you to report them for "x" reason?
