League of "LEGENDS"... okay where the hell is the legend part of this game from?

I've read some lore(I might of miss this part of the lore but), no where did I see someone mention Legend, I've only seen/read "summoner". someone plz explain or show me, I swear I'm missing something here cause the name of the game and lore don't make a lick of sense from what I've read.
