@lyte Why does solo/duo ranked queue match promotion games differently than normal ones
Something that has really been getting on my nerves lately is my promotion series. It is obvious the system is matching me differently than a regular ranked game and more often than not with players that have little to no experience. Sure I may have some bad luck in that regard but the real question is why is the system doing this in the first place. Promotion series are no different than any other ranked match, there are no special rules or regulations for them, so why the heck match them differently?
It is obvious simply looking at my teammates and opponents wins in ranked that there is a change in matchmaking. in promos it seems that my allies and opponents wins are all over the place. I frequently have players that have wins in the single digits in promos when I have been playing since the beginning of the season. When this ranked system was launched it was said it would be able to better match teammates and opponents to their skill level. For the most part I agree... but then I get into a promotion series and that reasonable system is thrown out the window for an entirely different one. One that does not care whether someone is of similar skill level, only that they happen to be in a promo series as well so shove them together. This matching is horrible. the more players in a Promotion series on a single team the higher the tension and the more likely people are to fly off the handle on each other because so much is on the line. Add the fact that they are often times on entirely different levels of skill and you have a powder keg.
This may not happen much in gold and higher, but those that high are the minority of player community. 75% if not more are found in silver and bronze. what works for the few typically does not work for the many. I would like to plead that this different promotion series matching system be removed. Have the system treat Promotion matches the same as if they were not. There is no difference in how you play the game whether you are in a promotion game or not so logic would say there shouldn't be a different matching system and yet there is. If my logic is flawed I would like to hear the reasoning for the current system. Why is it better to change the way you are matched in a promotion series?
