The "Reverse-Popularity" Phenomenon.
This is something that I've noticed for a long time. Champions like
and
were deemed "forgotten" by the league community. But, it is in fact this "forgotten" factor that makes them rememerable. Their popularity comes from being unpopular.
Now take the champion
. He is by no means considered "bad" or "forgotten", but when was the last time you actively thought of him? You can't go on the boards without somebody saying "Yorick update plz" but when was the last time you saw a xerath post?
So in short, Yorick and the like are so unpopular that they fall into a black hole where they become popular for not being popular, while champions like xerath are so averagely popular that they end up less popular.
