So I finally earned a promo to Gold 5 and started my best of 5. I lost my first match and logged out to take a break for all of 10 minutes. I just logged back in and it says I have 84LP? I'm loading up my next ranked game, hoping this is just an error... cause... if for some reason my promo, a best of 5, is over after 1 loss then... what?!?!?!
You lose and gain LP while in your Promos, it won't stay at 100 (if it goes over 100 due to a win it won't display that though).
Check your League tab, it'll probably say you're still in it. You just lost 16 LP from your first match. If you win it'll go up, and if you lose it'll go down again but you'll still be in them.

You still lose points in promos. If you win you win if you lose you continue to lose points. If you win the promos you go to 0 points next division/tier. if you lose the promos you go to whatever amount of points you have at that time.
