Is anyone even gonna get DJ Sona?

Well, after Riot WizardCrab confirmed DJ Sona's Sona release sale to be 25% (2450 RP) for a couple of days before returning to 3250 RP, I just went "Nope."

And so, is anyone actually still planning on getting DJ Sona? (Other than the die-hard fans who would spend ANYTHING for any skin that riot puts out)

Before I get those "They put more effort in her, the sale price is fair" comments, take this into consideration, does Apple raise the price of their products as new generations of their product are released? No, they keep the prices the same and lower the price of the older model by $100.

The previous ultimate skins represented the best that Riot could pull off for that season, Pulsefire Ezreal, Spirit Guard Udyr, and now, DJ Sona. Just because they did the best they could on DJ Sona (just like they did the best they could with the other ultimate skins) doesn't justify that they can raise the price on an already overpriced skin.

Skin Release sales:

Ezreal PFE: 1625 RP - Awesome! Udyr SGU: 1820 RP - Good. Sona DJS: 2450 RP - Rito Pls

Perhaps youre paying for you know the music? considering artists came in and made songs FOR the skin Riot as a company owes them a portion of the profit, and those artists have a say in how much they want, IE: riot can say theyll sell it for 5$ the artists can say "for ever 5$ you get we get 3$" three different artists for three different songs, means riot has to up the price and cant put it for sale to long or for to much

I'm probably buying it twice. Once for me and the other for my duo partner.

Sona is my go to support, and for me it didn't need a discount fore to get it! I also plan to mystery gift at least once to all my friends on my buddy list to see if anyone is lucky to get her!

Considering that she has 3 forms with different FULL LENGTH SONGS and DIFFERENT VISUAL EFFECTS for EACH FORM and EACH ABILITY, I think that riot is completely fair in their reasoning lol.

Apples (...) and oranges.

When old products get discounted, it's because they still need to be sold. Unlike virtual goods that cost nothing to reproduce once complete, unsold outdated tangible products have a per-item manufacturing cost. They know they can't expect full price for the goods once they've been outclassed, so they discount them to increase the likelihood that they can liquidate their inventory. For virtual goods, selling obsolete items such as old skins isn't as critical, so they can leave the prices the same and won't suffer losses. Occasional discounts and bundles occur to stimulate sales, but otherwise the old skins aren't a big deal.

Retail prices are also dependent upon component and labor costs. Advancements in tech manufacturing + economies of scale make certain products feasible for large companies to produce at lower costs as time passes. This is why companies can sometimes afford to keep a similar price for newer and more advanced versions of things. I don't think the costs of DJ Sona have been made public, but for all we know, the artists involved have significant royalties for the sales. Riot is almost certain to be keeping a smaller percentage of DJ Sona sales than they keep for Pulsefire Ezreal, Spirit Guard Udyr, or really any other skin.

I'm gonna buy it, and the music is just a plus. I would buy then skin even if it didn't have a soundtrack, I just love everything about it. I'm not even good at Sona, but I think it's a good sale. Also remember, they have no need to even give a sale, but they do anyways.
