DJ Sona release sale?

Days after DJ Sona's teaser went live, summoners were wondering the RP release price for DJ Sona / when she would go live.

At first, some speculated 40%, then 30% (still good), and here we are now, with Reds telling us the discount would be "small"

I'm just wondering what the reds mean by a "small" discount, I understand it took them some time to develop the skin but putting it on sale for anything below 30% would seem pretty greedy :P. Well, lets just see what happens around the end of February.

nothing has been set in stone yet, so why be upset? for all we know the sale will be 30% since it would follow how they been doing the sales for the Ultimate skins as PFE was 50% off, SGU was 40%. Even then though i dont see why we need a sale for this. for all the hard work they are putting into this it should be well worth the cost!

I'm okay with 30%, but there is some speculation of a lower sale price than 30%, considering that the skin will probably be released sometime End of February/Early March the hype just dies down and a minuscule sale price would just turn people off to the idea. But there are always those diehard LoL fans who would pretty much give their life savings for a skin, those are the only ones who'll turn up a profit if this occurred.

Well the only reason why they released the skin early on PBE was because they wanted a lot of people testing her out to make sure she is great when she is released! Im not sure if you remember but when champions, and even skins get release too early they tend to have a lot of bugs and as such they are disabled or locked out for days/weeks. i would rather spend as much time to get her as perfect as they can so they dont do that again especially for a skin as big as this! If anything this should make the people who want the skin, but dont have enough money right now to be able to save up a bit before she is release which means more sales!

Plus like i said before you shouldnt really be so bummed out until a red actually states what the sale price is. im still confident that it will be 30% off and to me that seems worth it for the skin, if its lower than that oh well, ill still have enough RP to buy it!

As said before, 30% sounds reasonable and I'd still get it if it were that, however I'm not so confident that it would stay that way. An insult? To the LOL community? How? If anyone should be insulted it is riot. They did't have to give it a discount. Look at legendary skins, they receive a discount of 0% when released. Secondly DJ Sona is basically 3 skins each with different vfx's voice recall animations. Hell, riot even had to hire a podcast company to help them make it so that sona's teamates can listen to her music. In reality, anything lower than its original price is really an insult to rito, but i dont like licking a gift horse in the mouth so ill gladly take 900 RP off its original price.

no they werent PFE was the only 50% and thats mainly because he was the first. SGU was 40% off on release!

There have only been 2 Ultimates, you cant assume 40-50% will be the standard sale price.

But i think its a fairly good bet, they announced it will be on sale on first day, and 28% is usually left for 1350 rp skins. usually the rest is on sale for around 50% off.

50% for everything else? You mean the skins from the legacy vault whenever they are rereleased? You cant even use the 50% for legacy skins as an indicator of how much an ultimate should cost. Anyway, 1350 skins are the only skins, other than the newchamp/skin combo, to be put on sale when released. So according to that logic, PSE and SGU were outliers and DJ sona's 25% is a fairly accurate representation of what it should be.

Tbh, i 'm looking at the time where i posted it and i think it might be bugged, because i think i'Ve posted that that way earlier then 2 days ago....

anyway! what i meant at that time is that most sales are at 50%, legacy, the weekly sales, etc. I dont see why it was too far-fetched at the time to think the third ultimate skin will have the same treatment as the previous ultimates, and the majority of the sales. I get what you are saying. In all reality, when it comes to ultimate skins and their respective sales, we don't have a lot of info to go on other than DJ sona's predecessors. Comparing skin quality, PSE is just an enhanced model with an evolving feature and SGU was originally intended to be his visual update. Although SGU, was a step up it doest even come close to sona's in comparison. DJ Sona is basically 3 skins each with different vfx's voice recall animations. Riot even had to hire a podcast company to help them make it so that sona's teammates can listen/not listen to her music.

If sona was to have the same treatment that you wanted, she wouldn't have such an amazing ultimate coming out. I for one think the 25% is more than a fair shake for her skin. I would understand wanting more than that if the quality of the 2 predecessors were at her level. Most 50% sales are skins that have been out for awhile, and dont include legendary and ultimate. In fact, i believe that 50% for PSE and 40% for SGU(this is reasonable as it wasnt intended to originally be a ultimate but his new model), but more so PSE spoiled people who have played when he was released. You can argue why dont they release legendaries with sales on their first week. The answer......because. Rito is a business.

Aside from people saying SGU was supposed to be his visual update, there is much i could find that confirm it. Ultimate skin are meant to be a rethinking of the champion, literally a new way to see the champion, so they will always end up having, even if its jsut a slight, feeling it could have been a visual update.

Yes Sona definatly used more ressources to make, but then the discount still seem out of place. As we have seen, recent skins have a quality far superior to the older ones of the same price bracket, yet they kept the pricing around what we always used to, with discounts that goes with what we always had in the past. In a sense what i'm trying to say, is that yes it took mroe ressources to make DJS, but shouldn't Riot have access to more ressources as well, not just with experienced artist teams, but maybe better budgets, better art creation softwares, etc. ? Just trying to understnad the argument :)!

I feel like this skin has so much more to offer than SGU and PFE, that less of a discount is justifiable. It's quite obvious that Riot had to put more capital into developing this skin. Can't wait for it's release.

Yes I agree with you and 30% is a good deal but they will make more ultimate skins and it will have a less then 30% discount or not have a discount at all and any skins that are $25 should have a discount when they first come out.

I'd still be okay with it being 2100 or even 2200. At least I could buy it and get a 975 skin too.

Its confirmed that it's not coming out on Patch 5.3 (In 3 days)

But it may come out sometime around/after Patch 5.4 (End of February/Early March)

I wonder if a Red would post on this thread to clarify/confirm when she'll be ready or how much she'll be.
