I find it absolutely ridiculous we can't dodge from raging jerkbags

It blows my effing mind that I get into pick and ban for a ranked game and a guy is instantly yelling and cursing at me. I have never met this person, I have done nothing to wrong this person in any way, yet he is already bullying me, raging, being negative, and criticizing every teammate for their perfectly normal picks. Clearly this extremely toxic behavior has a high chance of losing the game just on its own, and I am not allowed to dodge. I would get PUNISHED for doing so. I am forced to play with this manchild that is throwing a tantrum at people whom he needs to win, or I get punished by losing LP and have to sit around and wait for the timer. Muting him or not, his toxicity has already begun putting others on edge, and just outright pissed me off. It doesn't matter if I mute him and keep my cool, the rest of my team is still listening to his constant trash talk and complaining, then they spend their time typing to him and getting mad, and no matter how much i plea to just join me in muting him, I go unnoticed in all the rage build up. So in the end it is the same result. A loss and frustration. And so I ask again, why is it I'm not allowed to remove myself from this situation?

Because people would change it from removing themselves from a toxic element to using it to create the perfect team comps. They will whine about anything that isn't in the meta, whine about how you are clearly trolling, bully even harder to get you to dodge in the first place, etc etc.

What about instead of dodging, there was the option of a team vote to boot a player who is clearly toxic before the match starts? That might even be abused, maybe just a team vote to disband similar to the surrender vote, but doesn't punish you like a dodge would.

~~Why can't you just mute them? I don't get it. ~~

~~You hit tab. You find the little icon to the very right of the summoner name/info and click it. ~~

Woops! Didn't read the whole post.

Yes. This is annoying. It's like people who think that they MUST answer the cell phone when it rings, no matter the situation. These folks MUST respond to the troll, even if they are about to be killed.

In my case, most of my games contain pre-muted summoners, since Riot is nice enough to pre-mute all the blocked trolls it matches me up with over and over again.

because that would take actual work to figure out and riot wants to work the least amount possible. they don't care about this fucked up disgusting community that they've created. i've LITERALLY NOT FIGURATIVELY LITERALLY SEEN TERRORISTS AND NAZIS TREAT PEOPLE BETTER THAN THIS COMMUNITY.

He was trying to make you dodge because he realised he didn't have time to play.

Well.. you are.

There's nothing at all preventing you from dodging except your own desire to avoid the consequences of doing so.

Now, if you're questioning whether there needs to be consequences, ask yourself this: do you enjoy having relatively short queue times? Because removing dodge penalties would directly increase queue times - it's not entirely unreasonable to expect it to ensure that it's very nearly impossible to actually start a match.
