Is there any potential of ever having official gameplay data dumps from Riot?
I _absolutely love _ crunching big sets of numbers to get insights (it's a big part of what I do for a living). As such, I was wondering if there's maybe some potential for Riot to ever provide anything like this about League of Legends. I've browsed around a bunch of other sites to see what kind of data they collect on League games, but it always seems to be a little spotty and/or hard to work with. Availability of data itself seems very limited and I don't have a huge amount of confidence in the capture for these 3rd party sites.
I would be tickled pink if Riot were able to sometime eventually provide some sorts of data sets for games played. I can only begin to imagine all of the sorts of insights that could be gained from this. I especially wonder these things when I see those little stat blurbs before a game (e.g. correlation between toxic behavior and losing games). I'm not sure how much of this data Riot collects and/or stores and if there's issues with putting it out there to the public, but if this is at all a possibility I could be thrilled to get my hands on it.
At the risk of rambling, I can only imagine what one could glean from player-level data (PLD is fascinating stuff to work with), or match or champion data. There's a lot of processing that would have to be done from it's raw form, to be sure, but I'd be super excited to dig into it.
So is there any potential of this someday being a thing? Or has there ever been any hearsay about it, at the very least?
