I'm having a friend over tommorow and we were going to do some team builder matches together as an AD carry / support combo.
But i'm kinda bored of typical supports, I need ideas on awkward picks that can still work. Some ideas I had were 
. Anyone know how these picks would work, and anyone able to suggest some more?
Personally, I think as long as you're both having fun, that's all that matters. :)
I've taken Ziggs support during his free week. It doesn't work well on high damage lanes (ashe supp, leona), but he outspams Karma/Lux, outranges Morg, and he's a TON of fun to play. Plus his passive=faster tower.
Lissandra support isn't very good because her poke is so low ranged, but she's not tanky at all. All her abilities are aoe meaning she is almost guaranteed to steal cs from the adc.
I've seen Syndra and Anivia support tons of times though.
Viktor's pretty decent. Good poke, stun is kinda hard to land.
Anyone with CC can work, really. Not all the time, but it can work. Yes those that you mentioned can work as well. Some better than others and sometimes it can fail, like alot of supports. Annie works as well, same with brand and even karma. Years ago (and to this date) my friend was taking Brand as support when he ranked (all he does is rank) because he always did top lane. What happened? Worked wonders. He's been doing it so much, spreading the message as his team doubted and proved them wrong. Now look, its recommended. I personally use brand as support most of the time and I love it. He has a stun and an aoe with his ultimate that can devour a team.
Anivia, same thing. He did the same thing with anivia and people doubted. What happened? People recommend it now. It works wonders as well because she has that stun and can deal a nice amount of damage as well as block off potential ganks. Best part is her passive. Once you get in a serious fight and she soaks up the damage, sometimes they stay and risk it or you guys bait it, and they kill her for their own death. BUT WAIT! Her passive saves her! Yeah, her passive will do wonders because people fall for it alot and its lovely :)
Same goes with Vel'Koz, even pantheon and Jarvan. Some are more aggressive and these picks work. You usually have to be aggressive but it pays off. Sometimes it wont work, but thats with everything. So if you lose a lane because of it, don't be alarmed. Either you need to practice more as that role with that champion or things just don't turn out well.
Some of these picks are better than others (Like syndra, ziggs and viktor aren't so great because they need to do alot of poking, sacrificing their mana for potential fights early) and if it doesn't go well, then all that poking is for nothing while you sacrifice most of the useful CC.
You can even pick Lee Sin! It can work, don't be scared. Just do it ^.^
