How do I help a friend not rage?
My friend rages pretty often when he loses and say his opponents are OP when many times it's because he has an unfavorable lane matchup or just make mistakes. I try to advise him how to fix his mistakes or how to play safe against bad matchups when he encounters them to the best of my abilities. But of course I can only do so much, especially since I'm not a challenger or something.
Here are some of the things he do.
- Not communicate. He straight up avoids chatting. He says it's because he might end up flaming them, but he doesn't even ping or listen to pings.
- Not build adaptively. He always go for the same build, although he sometimes switches the order around. Like when he plays Rek'Sai in jungle, he always builds Spirit Visage. This is generally a good item because of the extra sustain, but he builds it even if the enemy team is very AD heavy and things like Randuin's Omen would help him much more.
- Not try to counterplay. He doesn't go in when enemy's spells are on cooldown after taking a full combo. And then rages about how OP the opponent is when they come back in to kill him because he's low.
- Complain about CC. He likes playing assassins, and almost never play anyone with hard CC. I can't explain how tanks counter assassins to him.
- Not learn about different champions. He's been playing since Kha'Zix came out, but still doesn't know what everyone does. He only knows about what he can do.
Please help.
