Removed from champ select and given 5 minute time-out before my selection time was over

Was just in a ranked lobby where there was some confusion about who was going where. The timer for me to pick my champion had about 5 seconds remaining and yet I was suddenly taken back to the main launch screen with the popup saying something along the lines of "you have been removed from the queue for failing to select a champion." I could still hear the timer in champ select ticking the seconds down in the background but I could not select a champ or do anything.

Anyone else experienced this?
