Just a crazy champion idea v2

Jumping off and adding to Kolpy99's earlier thread , this champ is still an AP melee assassin. Ideally this champ will be all about mind games and dealing persistent damage. Think of them like a mix of Diana and support Leblanc. I'm not great with numbers and ap scaling so feel free to give suggestions there.

Alvar, the Waylayer

Abilities

PASSIVE: Will of the Wisp

Alvar converts all their Stealth wards to Wisps; Wisps are always visible to both teams and are nontargetable except to Alvar. A max of 3 wisps can be active on a map. Wisps grant vision and while in its field Alvar's auto attacks deal additional magic damage.

SPELL 1: Misdirection

Alvar casts a long skillshot nuke. When it hits an enemy champion it deals damage and transports you behind the champion. If it hits a wisp it will cause the wisp to Charm all enemies in its vision for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds.

SPELL 2: Mischief

If in range; Alvar will snuff out a Wisp causing him to become stealth-ed for 3/4/5/6/7 seconds or until Alvar attacks. Alvar's next damaging attack from stealth will deal additional magic damage based on the enemy's max health.

SPELL 3: Faery Ring

Passive: When Alvar enters the field of vision of a wisp, a clone of Alvar is produced at every wisp on the map. Clones can only mimic the current movement of Alvar and will not attack or cast abilities. Clones disappear when they or Alvar leave the Wisp's vision.

Active: Alvar channels for 1.5/1.25/1/.75/.5 second and trades places with any active clone on the map.

ULTIMATE: Wayfarer

Alvar deals damage to an enemy champ making them invisible to their team for 3 seconds. Attacks to and from the target will not destealth the target. (Only tenacity and cleanse will effect the duration).

Lore

(I'll be using the singular "they" since I consider the fae to be genderless.)

Alvar is of the fae glade. They is a mischievous and cunning sort, a traveler of all the Glade but had never ventured out of the glade before. Till one day they came upon an unusual creature, a visitor from another world. Alvar became infatuated. This visitor already had a companion sprite but Alvar enjoyed her company none the less. Alvar made her a fae promise to show her many wayfaring games and crossroad tricks; Alvar thought they would have fun forever. Their new friend was curious and adventurous and She wandered and played in all the fae. Alvar didn't worry since they were certain to find and play with her again since they knew all the pathways and hidden byways in the Glade. Till one day they didn't. Alvar searched high and low, far and wide but couldn't find her. She had left them behind. Only the foolish break a fae promise. Alvar was able to track her back to a doorway to her world; but what he found surprised him. It was vastly wondrous and there were so many different people and creatures to play with; so many roads to travel. Alvar was certain that one would lead them back to her.

Sorry, but you can't mess with wards like that.

Yeah the core idea of that was concepted before the preseason changes. I figure it's still mostly fine since it mostly follows the new rules but also have trade offs.

How about, whenever he uses an ability, a wisp spawns in his location?

I thought of this but that would be on too short of a timelimit since you would be replacing wisps too frequently since you have only a max of 3 wisps. I also thought maybe it would drop with his next damaging attack periodically on a timer similar to ziggs' passive. But his teleport mechanic would require a little more control of wisp placement. I figured that since they also grant vision they might as well replace wards. It would allow more precise placement and control of time limits. I'm still open to any other ideas if you got them.

  1. The Q makes it wayyyyyyy too easy to charm people. Unless you make the wisp visible (not stealthed) and have a cooldown before you can cast charm on it.

  2. I would make his W do a flat amount of damage, with AP scaling, no HP shredding.

  3. Waaaaay too OP. No place in League for that skill, unless it's an ult.

  4. Like the previous post, it's an OK ult.

I would link the previous thread in yours, so that people can refer to it.

  1. the passive states wisps are always visible to each team. I figure between that and body/creep blocking there should be enough counter play.

  2. I'm cool with it either way.

  3. Yea this one I was iffy on. I figured it might be okay since it doesn't deal damage or negate damage directly, but teleporting across the map does have alot of power. It occurred to me that a champ could have 2 ults on long cooldowns while the other 2 abilities are on exceptionally short cooldowns; but Alvar is already burdened with a lot of new mechanics.

The first iteration of this idea also had the clones at one health that could only be popped by an enemy champ. I like this ability a lot but I agree its not near refined enough. I would like to keep the clone/mind games aspect but I'm not sure what to replace the teleport with.

  1. I did have another twist to this ult, but I tend to over complicate abilities if that wasn't obvious. I was thinking that they would become suppressed as well for the duration. OR they received extra damage from any attacks from stealth to create synergy with other stealth champs.

thanks for the reminder about linking back.

"When you deal use an ability, a wisp spawns at the location of the ability's target."
