What should you do with off meta things like AP Riven?

I wanted to make this post a while ago, but I forgot or stuff happened, I don't really know.

Anyways I had an AP Riven on my team, who after like 35 minutes realized how useless she was with just a Lichbane and Ludens to deal magic damage, and bought AD items. But until then, she went negative and felt like a heavy weight.

I didn't even care that she was negative cause she was decent at Riven, or decent from what I've seen of Rivens, and we were doing okay in the game. But the fact he/she went AP Riven was upsetting.

So is this acceptable? Because AP Riven is a new level of off meta than. Its not even like AD Janna, because at least your auto's scale with AD. It's not like Nautilus mid, because you can still lane and do all your stuff it just might be harder. AP Riven might as well have bought no items except a sheen and occasional Luden's proc that were empowered by the AP she did buy.

I dunno if there is a clear answer, but it'd be nice to know how I should react and handle this. I don't think its reportable, but maybe it is griefing or giving up?

I mean, I'm all for trying something new especially in normals, but riven has absolutely no AP scalings so that person was legit just trolling. Trolling creates a negative experience for all the players in the game, so yeah, I suppose that's reportable... people have been banned for less

She wasn't trolling, if she kept the ap items all game then yeah, she definitely would have been but the post says that the riven went and bought ad items so she coudnt have been trolling.

still, it took her 35 min before doing so... most games end before that and if she had gone ad in the beginning they probably wouldn't have had many issues.

The point is that this player committed fully to something that doesn't even make sense with the game. Even 1 AP scaling on Riven would have been fine to try, but 0 scalings make it full troll

I think it would be comparable to 0 damage Tryndamere as she did try to win the game and all but she did a tactic that you would not use if you were trying to win but if you were screwing around without any care about the other players.

Could be fun in a normal.

I mean, it makes no sense and why would you, but I kinda wanna see what happens ya know? I'd probably honor them at end of game, just for being brave enough to have some fun.

I dunno how gimping your self and basically not buying items is fun.

This person was playing very casual, they didn't care about the game that much.

Your right. I like spending 40+ minutes with a player who only benefits from like 10% of their gold and thus can't contribute much despite their ability to play Riven decently.

Just cause it's a normal game, doesn't mean I want someone to waste my time and give no fucks.

you want to play a serious game play ranked. as is the person could have found a guide from when riven did have ap scaling(a long time ago) and it clearly wasn't a ranked game. normals are for fun. ranked is for being serious. learn the difference please.

I shouldn't have to play ranked for a game without trolls.

The chances that such guide is still up, this person found it, this person didn't look at the date, this person didn't look at her scalings in game, and this person was experienced to some extent at Riven but still thought she had AP scaling is so low that it isn't reasonable.

Normals are for fun, your right. But when you have a team mate who is handicapping your team, it's not as much fun. It's not okay that during Riven "having fun" I lost out on having fun too.

I know the difference. No need to be rude.
