Why not?
You're ranged, and you have a strong initiation tool for your jungler, especially assassin junglers who could use an extra gap closer. Not to mention your hook can be used as an escape by using jungle monsters.
It's not breaking the meta that causes these bans, but not communicating to your teammates. If people ask why you're playing Thresh top, just say "Ranged + lantern for junglers." If the jungler picked an assassin, and they're competent in their role, they should pick up on it.
Just do it in norms.
Then when you get good at it pull it out in ranked
thresh top is actually op, he's pretty tanky and seriously hit me like twice and killed me doing 1600+ damage without being massively fed like wut
