My friends are getting demoted and no one wants to play this game anymore.

All it is, get to gold 5 quit playing until next season? How is this fun. I literally at this point... to get rewards have to pay to play since I actually have a life and need boosted. WHY CAN'T REWARDS BE FOR EVERYONE? WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE WHOEVER CAN SPAM QUE UNTIL GOLD 5? It doesn't take much skill I promise. It's like watering a plant at this point just for it to die like a real "season" I dont think Ill ever invest a single dime into this game again. I'd rather spend time boosting my character on runescape on non members than* play this game any further. People easily buy diamonds. And Riot doesn't even have the powers to track them down and destroy them like Runescape does. I should of stayed playing a game with actual progress. I have a job and family. I don't have time to play with afkers/bad players.

My friend got gold 4 and was demoted to silver 1 in 4 days. How is this even fair? They love the community and they play excellent and respect people why is demotion even allowed? How do you earn demotion? Is this HALO 3? Remember when everyone rushed to get 50s then played social slayer?? Isn't this just like it ? Won't we just drop the game completely one day and forget ranks just like we did with that?

You do get a reward just for playing. It's a nice Summoner Icon. You play above a bronze level, they give you another reward, a nice shiny border for your loading screen. You could have played ranked consistently throughout the entire season to get to gold, rather than procrastinating most of the games until the end if the other rewards mattered so much to you. You knew they would come eventually, why'd you put it off if you wanted it?

Your problem is that you're getting burnt out on your quest for a Sivir skin. You use to play a ranked game every once in a while, seldom more than once a day, but since September 23rd you've been pushing yourself, playing upwards of 16 ranked games a day. It's no wonder you and your friends got burnt out.

Add to that the fact that your priorities are backwards. You're focused on winning instead of having fun. And by trying to focus on winning, you're actually focusing on not loosing, which is stressing you out more than you need to whenever anyone does anything wrong. Relax, just play your best and enjoy the game. This will help make it fun again.

Wheres the disclaimer for noobs? and why does there have to be a date where a reward can't be earned? You aren't seeing the big picture. I've played for 2 years I know how seasons work I'm not a prepubescent 16 year old who doesn't know how to earn gold before half the season twat. I have a life and a job. I've moved out and I don't have time to play this game everyday anyways. Why even encourage playing consistently? Oh I know, money. They want you to try and sell a game you've already bought and should be enjoying yourself. But guess what Winning is the only way to have fun and your points were all void because I've been around long enough to have spent all my time being recreational. Sorry it's not fun if I don't get a reward for the things I've went through. And the other rewards are useless and everyone knows it. I've never felt good getting a bronze icon or border. We want things that cost rp. $$$ do you have a pair of eyes balls?? No one wants any of that when we play with a community who jokes about bronze being wood. A material that is organic is compared to metal. Noobs are always going to be at a disadvantage and will never grow fast enough to claim rewards that are meaningful. Let's not forget theres even higher ranked players who will never own Championship Riven. Well sorry to blow the horn early here but all the gold skins will come out of the vault and people willl have a chance to earn them because they will lose their player base and money. It's just a matter of time and they are running out already. Games are evolving without this one and I'm going to play them :/// Enjoy your stay at nazi rift.

The bigger question is why you care about a skin for a champion you don't play in a game you don't have time to play? You haven't played Sivir in your normal games, you haven't played her in ranked this season, and you only played her once last season. Does the implied value of something really make you want it that bad?

I won't hesitate to terminate a response, I don't have to answer anything about my intentions on getting a reward. If a player is able to achieve Gold, he or she gets the reward. Regardless of how hard working or caring someone is, if he/she isn't able to achieve Gold, he/she will not get the reward. Pretty simple.

This game doesn't reward you for things you do irl

Why would a video game reward me for things I do IRL? I have no interest in League of Legends being like "oh wow you handled that client really well today and got some new business for your company! Here, have a free skin for your trouble", because it's completely unrelated to actually playing the game.

If your only response to me discussing points you made is "read it closer", I don't think we can have much of a discussion. If you feel I missed something, explain what you feel I missed and elaborate rather than just telling me I didn't see it.

Without that information it's like hosting a scavenger hunt without telling people what they should find, there's really no point.

If I understand correctly, the point you're making here is that the variability of teamplay means the ranked system is inherently useless in determining reward distribution?

You aren't making any sense.

My friend is happy with what he's accomplished so far this season, independent of any rewards given by Riot. He's not so obsessed with a skin that it has become the only thing he focuses on. The end of season rewards are motivation for him try and climb higher though, and put in a few more games as the season closes out. Honestly, he probably will win the skin, and the only sad part about it is what happens after he crosses the Gold 5 threshold. He's mentioned that after/if he gets to Gold 5 he'll play 1 game. If he wins, he'll keep trying to play ranked this season. If he looses, he's going to stop playing ranked this season to secure the rewards.

As for rewards being gated by a certain amount of effort put in, I think Riot's system is extremely fair. It's not like they're unlocking access to items that make you better at the game than your lower rank foes, or having a different skin for Gold, Plat, Diamond, Master, and Challenger. The rewards do serve as a goal for those in Silver and Bronze to try and stretch for, which is fun in and of itself. Even though it's doubtful I'll get to Gold this year, I would not want the skin if I did not earn it.

At the end of the day the only thing I can assume you're upset about is that you feel LP gains should be based on individual contribution rather than team based results. That's not going to change any time soon, for the simple fact that there are too many variables to factor into what contributed to a win and what contributed to a loss. "They fed, I didn't" only gets you so far. Did you choose good places to set down your wards? Did you use effective pings? Did you position yourself properly for the final team fight or did you get caught in a bad position? You can blame others all you want, but at the end of the day you'd inevitably have to improve on these things if you want to climb, regardless of how LP gains are calculated.

My friend has a helpful way to think about ranked games. He views 40% of games as ones that no matter what your team will loose, and 40% as almost guaranteed wins. The remaining 20% is decided by your individual contributions to the team.

I'd rather keep my 20% for a game that will reward me for the 40%. seeing how my other 40% demotes and keeping me low on lp. i dont think the game is healthy period. every time we sit down its science that we degrade our bodies playing it anyways.

Then ward skins are the probably what you should be aiming for, participation rewards. Victorious skins are considered rewards for people who worked hard for it. Riot wants to reward people from playing their game in a competitive manner, You can think about it like this, you get 400 rp for reaching level 5,that's free. IP boosts for linking e-mail address. Alistar and Tristana skins for linking facebook/youtube. Riot is already giving out tons of free stuff, Victorious skins simply aren't just one of them.

The reason why people get rewards at gold is because they grind bronze is 50ish percent of players sliver is 30-40ish gold- challenger is literally the top 20 percent maybe even top 10 percent my friends Mmr was so high he got gold 5 right outtahis placement games

Umm. Challenger is in the ballpark of the top 0.001% or something like that, not even remotely close to 10-20%.

Ahh I see what you mean now. I believe the distribution is in the general ballpark of 20% Bronze, 45% Silver, 25% Gold, 8% Platinum, 2% Diamond, tiny% Master/Challenger. Tiny bit over 100% but whatever, clean numbers look better. :)

I think my answer to you is don't play just to get a reward from Riot. Rewards are being given to a smaller percentage of the players to reward them for their hard effort/skill in the game. But if you're playing league just to get a reward then you probably shouldn't be playing it at all. The game is about the challenge and excitement of going into game and matching your skill up against others.

As for getting demoted, well that's kind of the point of Ranked. Ranked matches are just a way for the competitive people to compare themselves to others. It's a way to see generally how much you need to improve. If you don't like that pressure or don't see a point in it, then play normals, that's what I did for a long time (I've started picking up Ranked more as of late). How would it be fair to the people in gold 4 to be compared to people they could beat? (Btw demotions like that only occur if you MMR is already really low so even if they didn't feel outmatched too often that was against people of a lower skill level, the rising and falling system is more or less accurate to skill level and demotions/promotions don't happen for no reason).

If you prefer Runescape, that's great, I personally never liked it because it forced you to pay a subscription whereas I much prefer League's free to play model.

As for account boosing, Riot actually catches a lot of those people, not always right away because it can be hard to tell until their actual skill level shows up.

I have friends who can't even play with me and talk in skype because all we do is complain it isn't even fun anymore. Even streamer friends dislike this game. They don't even want to stream it. It's boring and demotions cause nothing but more time spent and stress how is this game entertainment for the mass?

Well thats the point of competition. If everyone would get reward it would be like kindergarden sport competition, everyone gets reward for participation and noone even looks at result. If your friend was good enough he wouldnt get demoted.

What are your statistics for the game dying? Because the most recent statistics I know of say that League is still growing despite the rest of the MOBA genre flat lining or declining.

Again, what does it matter?

I've got Prototype Viktor, and the majority of new Viktor mains over the course of the next two years won't have it, because it has been moved to the vault. Less rare than Victorious skins, but still you could miss the one week a year to buy it and not get it.

Rather than complain about not making it to Gold this year and missing out on a skin, I'd rather Riot made a different design choice. I'd rather them say "You made it to Gold+. You can now unlock one additional Victorious Skin," allowing players to pick which one they like the most. A Jarvan main would work harder to get to Gold if they saw it as a chance to get Victorious Jarvan, a Morgana main would do likewise for Victorious Morgana, etc. It basically removes the "Gold+ Season 1" association from the skin, but that's it.

Listen kid, trophies in real life are for the rich boys who had money and time to be pro. Not through effort and sweat like you are thinking. How come you never see how much money these "pros" were making before they started their career? Faker is a GOD because he worked at KFC before he went pro. You won't find many pros like him PERIOD. You don't even think. I'm saying trophies don't belong in games when it isn't a tournament. It's a ranking system that can be abused. It's imperfect. It's public.
