edit: what worked for me on the mac client on a laptop was to kill wifi and reboot my PC then turn wifi back on

I haven't been able to play in 3 days. I'm having all sorts of client issues. When I finally got into a game I got the firewall message and couldn't get back in.
Yup its insane, not its not the firewall i get it even if my firewall is disabled

It's telling you it's your firewall "or something, we don't know because we don't know everything that might go wrong."
It might be an Or Something much of the time.
Whats funny about all these comments say to people that they need to fix their connection, well it was Riots server all along so people with problems don't feel bad and people making fun of the people with problems you are wrong.
Yeah it seems like the firewall error has been popping up more recently. Ive gotten it in like 5 games today :(

Same problem. Using windows 8, ESET ver 8. Tried to connect back to the game for 15 min or more by using both lol.launcher.exe and lol.launcher.admin.exe with ESET on and off Failed and see myself as "leaver" at the scoreboard

I've had this issue for about a year. There was a large thread about this in the old help and tech forums about people having this issue along with numerous smaller threads with people having this same issue. Did riot EVER reply to them? No. We were left in the dark to attempt to find fixes for ourselves (which didn't work) because the fixes they gave us were useless.
It would have been in good tastes to at least leave an acknowledgement of the issue. But nope. We got nothing and it's disgusting. So don't tell me Riot hasn't known of this issue until now. This has been going on for a year. A whole year.

It's time for riot to fix these bugs. Jezus whe complain about players go afk. But 90% of the cases are caused by bugs from their own server. What's the point to send someone a punishment from a problem that can only be solved on their side.
It's funny how most people complain about this and never troubleshoot their connection because it "usually works right".
Most people don't understand what port forwarding is, and even I myself had no idea that IE settings could actually cause an issue.
The firewall message basically indicates that data isn't properly being transmitted and received, which can be something completely out of Riot's control (like a major backbone going down or an IsP's routing issue) a problem on the user's end (hardware/software firewalls even on a router) or an internal problem with Riot).
I got the warning a few days back, and I've done the usual port-forwarding and ie settings check. I'm pretty sure the problem was anywhere in that route aside from my machine. But quitting over internet connectivity is a bit lame - a lot of you folks probably don't remember what it was like when we were still using dial up and have this impression there's a thing like 100% up-time.
I can usually reconnect by closing the game and then logging back in. The problem is that this labels me as a leaver. Rito plz.
I just hit retry about three times, spam alt-tab, and it works for me. Usually.

Just had this happen to me right now. Ooooh I'm pissed and I know the leaverbuster is going to get me for it.
Trying running league in as an administrator. It worked for me when I had the problem yesterday.

Unfortunately, when working with a mass of code this huge AND old, problems are going to crop up. Could they fix them faster? Depends on if the issue is severe enough to warrant some server downtime (can't always hotfix this stuff), or if they've actually managed to figure out what the hell it is yet. Could they make their error messages more informative? Ehh, not as simple as you would think. Could they acknowledge the issue? Well, often times they already have, they're just not going to run about pasting their response into every thread people make on the problem.
Hopefully they'll figure out everyone that had this issue and have their new leaver system discount all games caused by the issue.
I just had that as xerath, took me 26 minutes to get in and the game was already over.
It actually is, the way they go about fixing the problem is terrible though.
Disable all of your firewalls and restart your PC then see if you ever get that error again, if you do, you may have a hardware FW causing it.
