I am appalled at how many people cannot distinguish between "your" and "you're".

"Your" is used to refer to something you possess: your clothes, your favorite champ, your food, your grammar.

"You're" is used as a contraction of "you are": you're a cool guy, you're feeding mid, you're full of crap, you're killing me.

Every time you type out "your" ask your self if you're really trying to say "you are". If the answer is yes, then the correct word in that instance is "you're". Please, for the sake of humanity, understand the distinction between these two. Otherwise, ~~your~~ just sounding ignorant to ~~you're~~ fellow players.

I dislike people getting personally offended like they were apart the construction of the "English" taught today. On top of that I can guarantee nobody on league uses perfect grammar, they just like to pick out the common mistakes people make to try and put them down and make themselves feel superior. If you really wanted to get into it I could go on about why the language we use today is flawed.

So this message that I wrote in half the time that it takes you to write your "online message as fast as possible" can't be in proper grammar? Doesn't really seem that difficult to me. As long as you know how to use a keyboard, I see NO excuse to make it harder for people to read your crap.

How is my sentence structure bad? Also, I see many grammatical errors. You misspelled: It's, it's, I'm, you're. I type at 80+ words per minute, fairly sure it can beat most typing speeds in an average board post.

EDIT: Upwards of 100 WPM, haven't taken that kind of test in 4 years :P

whether people know the distinction between the two or not is inconsequential. You play an online video game and some people are lazy and don't feel like adding the extra strokes and therefore everything comes out in short hand.. i mean why not just type out laughing out loud??

The main purpose of language is communication. The intended message of the poster comes across just fine and therefore, arguing about it is the really stupid thing, sorry if you are so delicate that you get offended by someones incorrect use of your. Actually wait no, i couldn't possibly care less about that. Hurr durr my brain is so big that i spend my time worrying about ridiculously unimportant things such as OMG YOU DIDNT PUT AN APOSTROPHE they're! There coming to get you for you are incorrect use of grammarses! Sorry but if you were truly intelligent, you would consider the message behind what they are saying rather than what words they choose to use to convey the message.

Allow me to illustrate my point. if a guy comes into your house and tells you "YOUR ALL GOING TO DIE IF YOU DONT LEAVE THE BUILDING IS COLLAPSING" only a moron would sit there and correct his grammar. Not to mention, when talking, all 3 words sound exactly the same and he could be using any one of them at any time. my point being if your house is on fire and someone warns you about it, the only person who would sit there and freak out about grammar is someone who probably shouldn't escape the fire to begin with. We are better off without people who can't get over things that don't matter and have no bearing on anything. sorry if you fall into this category but its just a waste of time and honestly, my time would be better spent jerking off rather than typing this message.

Allow me to illustrate my point.

If I walk into a store, and a representative asks me "How you doing today?" I am not going to say, think, or do anything to correct him. It is perfectly fine. I understand what he is asking, and I will respond accordingly. This is equivalent to typing in chat during a match in League. Anyone who is wasting time in-game to correct grammar and spelling is doing exactly that--wasting time.

However, if this representative then decided to type up a proposal for his employer asking for a promotion which reads "I should be promoted. I do good for you're store. Your a great boss who's trained me good and always gave me opportunitys to learn new things. If I am promoted than you will not be dissapointed." then this will not work well in his favor. This is equivalent to starting a new forum on the Boards and expecting others to read past the poor grammar and spelling . It's just not going to happen. Riot, and many others, will not be able to respect your thoughts and ideas (assuming they read past the first few lines) because of the disregard for writing etiquette, and those thoughts and ideas will be a waste of time and space.

Some people do not realize this, so I figured I would make this post as a PSA. Oftentimes, there are individuals who have great opinions that get ignored because of the presentation.

You can tell me that this chicken is going to taste good, but, if it does not look and smell good, then I probably will not eat it.

It's online gaming.. People type fast and don't think about. It's not like i'm in school and being graded or care about what people think about my grammar online.

Trust me, I'm sure there are plenty of grammar mistakes you have made, unless you are the type of person who proof reads everything you write in fear someone might call you out on it. Some of us just don't care online..

I'm not appaled at howmany people cannot distinguish between "der", "die" and "das" in german, as i understand that some things are not that easy if your foreign to a language. this boards aren't NA only, so there are alot people like me that have english as a foreign language, if you complain about grammar or spelling errors, chances are that you're just sounding ignorant towards any non native english speaker.

I really appriciate that you're not only complaining, but also explaining, so take an upvote for that.
