The fighter category has become a catch all for the champions that dont fit in any particular role. I am suggestiong breaking the category up into duelists and buisers.

Duelists- Champions that pose the largest threat in a 1v1 situation. Their damage is often difficult to defend since their output is often a hybrid AP and AD or True damage. They are ideal for picking off wandering enemies or taking down powerful opponents that make the mistake of challenging them alone. ex. Jax, Kayle, Fiora, Aatrox, Olaf

Bruisers- The most versitile of the champion pool, these champions are designed to adjust to what their team needs as well as deal some heavy damage to the enemy team. They can build into heavy tanks or unstoppable powerhouses. These champions deal damage through their abilities by taking chunks of health from their opponents often turning the tide in a game. They are the trump card on the team and should never be overlooked. ex. Renekton, Rumble, mordekaiser, Skarner, Illaoi

what do we think?

I used to like the term 'duelist', but I think it's too broad to be used. There are champions outside of the Fighter class that make good duelists, and Fighters who qualify as other types (Such as Juggernauts) that also make good duelists.

Bruisers are just Juggernauts, most of the time.

A term Riot likes is Diver, a Fighter who builds mostly offense, and dives through the frontline onto the backline. Good mobility, high damage, so on, represented by champions like Riven, Fiora, Renekton, Pantheon, etc.
