Recruiting Community Reporters for a new board

Tamat·11/15/2014, 5:56:51 AM·22 votes·13,541 views

Sup everyone!

I'm looking for a handful of community reporters to help us build a new board. I want to start off with a small group, so I'm looking for those of you who that can constantly submit breaking news happening within the community. Those selected will work with the Boards team and together we will build something special from the ground up that will benefit everyone in the community.

If you're interested in becoming a community reporter, here's what you need to do...

  • Post a comment in this discussion with the below information, in the same (or similar) format:

Games played: (#)

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter? I want to become a Community Reporter because...

Where do you get community news from currently? (XXXXX, XXXXX, XXXXX, XXXXX)

Comments: (optional comments)

  • Vote on those that you think would be good reporters

  • Await an email from yours truly if you are selected (Note: If you don't get an email, you weren't selected for the first round. There will be more opportunities in the near future)

So that we can keep this process constructive, moderators will be deleting anything off topic. If it's not a post with your intent to become a Community Reporter, or feedback / questions about this subject, then please do not post it here.

I'm looking forward to getting started next week; it's going to be a fun and rewarding experience for everyone. Thanks in advance!

Update: I sent everyone selected for the first round a Boards Notification. If you didn't get one, there will be another opportunity in a few weeks.

I mean I'll give a shot.

Games Played- Hard to say -exactly-. I've been an avid player since Season 1 and have around...1.5k games or so. I'm unable to give accurate statistics but I think if you're really curious you could always investigate my account.

Why?- Because I already spend a good amount of my time on the boards and I might as well do something productive with my time. I don't consider myself the most unbiased nor do I consider myself good enough, but if you'll have me than I'll do my best not only to meet your expectations but exceed them and try and make the boards a place that's good for, well, everyone.

Where do you get your news from?- Most of the boards I frequent are the lore forums and GD. That's not to say I don't look at other forums but for most of my time I stick with what I know (Being lore and GD). I also check the front page for the breaking news. I had some series running for fan fiction on the community creations and submitted some concepts, but most of the time these days I just do my lore discussion (The weekly series) and browse GD. Also Surrender @ 20. Forgot about that one.

Comments?- Tamat that icon is so 8 patches ago. I'll carry you through some Team builder games if you need a new one. (I play a decent Braum and an aggressive sion!)

I've been playing since 2011. Those were the days, when Phreak used to make YouTube videos with jungle Akali and Triforce saying, "Tons of Damage."

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter?

You shouldn't even have to ask. I LOVE the league community, with a huge L-O-V-E. I love letting others know about the latest changes to league, like icons you can win, champion changes, or anything exciting that happened at LCS. I've had many a group on skype who I've even gathered to watch events like LCS. I live, breathe, and wake up to the League community. It may sound a bit ridiculous, though, I can assure you that everyone who's met me knows this. I love the people, the memories, the hardships, the happiness, everything! I've literally been through thick and thin with the League community and my passion for being involved has never died out. I'd love to participate and help out with anything I can with the community for league, even as a reporter. I am heavily involved with a lot of League gaming communities, the boards, and already help out whenever I can. I mean, heck, I've even had a visit to Riot HQ about community stuff, back when I used to host my own gaming community dedicated to league of legends. I've always dreamed to someday work there and become a member of the Riot team, even in any small way possible.*

Hey summoners,

Games played: Over 3k in between this account and my smurfs. I have been playing since season 2, and try to squeeze in 10-15 games a day when I am not working. According to "Wasted on LoL" I have spend "2588" hours playing league on this account alone, which is roughly "108" days.

Where do I get my Information? I get most of my news from reddit, which I religiously check every hour. I browse surrender at twenty when Moobeats gets his exclusives and PBE news. I get on reign of gaming for a red tracker of all post, which I read daily. I follow 300 + Rioters on Twitter, who love sharing their games and sometimes give us hints on what they are producing. I read the forums daily and always love to see new information on LoL

Why do I want to become a Community reporter? I help run a club at Texas Tech University, which participated in the Riot collegiate summit, as their communications coordinator. I have a minor in mass comm, and currently applying for the summer riot internship. l really love hearing about Riot and this would really help me get my foot in the door. I promise I would do my best, day and night, to get everybody the best, unbiased, new, and interesting news available.

Thank you guys for reading.

Games played:

3000+, I've been playing since I think late 2010.

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter?

I want to become a Community Reporter because I feel that initiatives like this where the community (even a small sub-set) is directly involved in Riot processes are really important. I have been a forum moderator/creator for 6+ years (all volunteer, not professionally), and have spent around eight years creating and maintaining communities for different games like Minecraft and RuneScape. Through this I know a lot about communication, as well as where to dig to find information and how to really get to the heart of what people are talking about and thinking.

Helping to facilitate communities like the Boards is really important to me, so any opportunity I have to help in a more significant way is something I'm definitely interested in.

Where do you get community news from currently?

  • The Boards (obviously)
  • Chat rooms
  • Friends
  • Discussions with random people
  • Third party sites like Surrender@20 and reddit

Basically, I ask a lot of questions. Like...a lot of questions. I love gathering information for the purpose of sharing it with other people in a more focused format, so I tend to be "in on the gossip" so to speak.

Comments:

I think I've pretty much covered everything, to be honest. Quick couple of questions though; I'm assuming the goal here is to essentially provide information in a more organized and direct way? Will our duties mostly pertain to community > community interaction, or more along the lines of bringing community issues to your (Riot's) attention so they can be more easily addressed?

Fisherman Fizz11/15/2014, 6:44:15 AM10 votes

** Games played:** Probably about 6k or so across all accounts, maybe a bit more. I probably play too much...

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter? I spend a pretty significant time looking at league related stuff and usually tend to know most of the stuff that's happening about both the game and about competitive stuff. I might as well use some of my free time to recap most of that since I already look it all up myself on my own anyway.

Where do you get community news from currently? Here, the league subreddit, and S@20 for the most part. I haven't seen anything major happen that wasn't caught on any of those 3 places so far.

Comments: I'll have a lot of spare time for a little while after I graduate from college next month. I could always use some of that extra time to help with this. ^_^

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter?: I probably browse the forums and take part in the community than most of Riot.

Where do you get community news from currently?: GD and private sources

Comments: I don't sugarcoat anything and I'm critical of everyone and everything. If you want someone to write about Riot as if they are the greatest company to ever walk this earth without calling them out on their weaknesses, I'm not your guy. If you want someone to tell it like it is, sign me up.

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter? I want to become a Community Reporter because, I've written a lot in the past on how the community of the game is what actually makes League of Legends so special. There's so much going on at all times between the community and the game that can sometimes easily get looked over. I'd love to help fix that.

Where do you get community news from currently? (Reddit, Twitter, FB, Chatting with other players, Sites like S@20/lolking, PA Forums)

Comments: (I'm experienced at writing and love to talk about League any chance I can get. There's nothing cooler than seeing how a single game can effect so many people! I'd love to have a chance to be a part of that.)

Games played: 4043 ranked games in the last 3 seasons.

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter? I feel like I can make a difference by posting quality content, simple as that - using the highlighted status to push through some ambitious stuff that otherwise would get lost in the sea of memes. It's not like I don't like all the cosplay photos and fanmade skins - we all do! - but in a vote-based system such as Boards or Reddit those things often overshadow less easily digestable content. Not everyone will want the "heavy stuff" - but at least it will be available.

If Cloth5, RoG or even onGamers post some good infographics, it deserves recognition. If someone writes a blog analyzing an eSports team or the whole scene - it's something worth seeing. Sure, it's entertaining when pro tweets create drama - but there are much more constructive things than that. Seeing a custom champion creation contest might encourage people to get creative and join the discussion.

What I do right now at the Boards is posting lots of theorycrafting, some of it very succesful (for posts that are a bit more complicated than "We need X" ones). Here's s two samples: 1: essay on metagame 2: feedback to jungle enchantments that resulted in immediate changes to those items by Riot Axes <3

  • both with Rioter replies and some discussion (part of it on my LoL Wiki blog).

I'm also a lore freak, so anything in that department is of great interest to me. Catching up with teasers and fan theories about them is fun.

Where do you get community news from currently? The usual - Reddit, Boards, Twitter, FB, Surrender@20, ReignofGaming, Leagueoflegends.pl, LoL Wiki blogs, etc. Also IRC (Quakenet - #leagueoflegends, #r/leagueoflegends).

Comments: I'm really interested what's gonna come out of this. It seems to have lots of potential.

Edit: Now that I think about, don't worry guys, I'll only wall o' text when appropriate. I can be restrained with my writing when I need to be :D

I recently applied for the Community Team Internship if that affects my eligibility at all. (Imho, great opportunity to give me a 'trial run' eh?)

Just a few seconds ago I got paired up with a guy who entered with "WAIT, aren't you the guy from the forums?? I'm honored." (Shout out to BeastlyNig!), so I'll take that as at least a small bit of evidence that I've had a positive impact on the community.

#Hello, my name is: EMOFRATPARTY!!!

Games Played: Just over 1,000.

Why do you want to be come a Community Reporter? Since I began playing the game back in May, I've been heavily involved in the Boards. I check them (and comment) multiple times on a daily basis and post every now and then as well. I feel like I am very in-tune with this community and the people involved, not to mention my keen eye for great content.

Where do you get community news from currently? 1. Boards, 2. reddit, 3. Client (Launcher, Friends, and Chat Rooms), 4. Surrender@20, 5. Twitter.

Comments: It's hard to find a good online community. None of them are perfect, of course, but when I click with other Summoners it is definitely a unique experience. I love being here, I truly enjoy reading and participating in threads, and I want nothing more than to see this community thrive for as long as humanly possible. Also, people say I'm pretty.

Some people know me as Zachary Snader, if EMOFRATPARTY doesn't do it for you.

EDIT: @Tamat, almost all of our posts have been downvoted at least once. Not to create a commentary or anything, but I'm not entirely sure the voting system will work 100% efficiently given the context of this post.

Better Ban Sona11/15/2014, 7:54:40 AM6 votes

Games played: About 3000+ normal games, 850 Arams, 2050 coop vs AI, 300 ranked last season, and many more. I have played League of Legends since season 1, so I kind of lost track when the counter system switched over (like when Twisted Treeline got its own counter).

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter? My main reasoning is that I am attempting to eventually become employed by Riot, and am currently working on my cover letter and a small number of side projects to fill my repertoire. I've worked as a staff member for the FEK project with notable others such as Frosthaven before, so the community here is a soft spot for me. I would love to become more involved regardless of any future involvement with Riot, but honestly I would hope the interaction would also help in that department in the future.

Where do you get community news from currently? The current boards and the old forums, Surrender@20 and Reign of Gaming mainly for quick access to PBE updates, and anything linked directly from the client. It also helps having a close knit group of friends from GD that bring things to my attention usually rather quickly.

Comments: I would absolutely love this position, should it not interfere with my chances for employment in the future, and hopefully not my involvement with the FEK program as well.

Hello I have over 1000 games played an I love all roles equally. I want to be a community reporter because I consider the league community to be an extension of my family so to work with the community of League of Legends would be a dream job for me and the opportunity to be part of the Riot family is amazing. I also love journalism and reporting so this job seems like a great fit. I love to work and I love League of Legends so I would work harder than anyone else in this or any other job. I currently get news from, Lolesports.com, surrenderat20.com, ongamers.net, I follow many rioters like Lyte on twitter for all community updates and of course the forum boards on leagueoflegends.com.

Thank you for the opportunity, Riley Brady Summoner name: ritoplzhire

Games played: (Unknown Exactly) I have been playing since july of 2011 so it is hard to say exactly how many games I have played been co-op vs ai, ARAM, random custom games with friends, playing an alt, PBE account stuff, or Ranked. I know more than 1k but I couldn't truthfully make an accurate guess.

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter? I have a passion for League of Legends that would probably go far beyond sounding cheesy trying to explain it. I love the community, and even though it gets a bad rap it is all the good stuff that really holds it together and would love to be a part of that even more so.

Where do you get community news from currently? I tend to get my information from quite a few locations but I see a lot of information from twitter, watching PBE content, specific people such as Pawnce on Youtube or Moobeat on twitter as those guys are on top of things for PBE content. As far as non-PBE specific content I just try to keep my ear to the ground, be that talking to friends, looking through information, or just flat out asking questions to try and get sources (like asking certain Curse members about Piglet and a few other ADCs they were looking at before their were any announcements, etc).

Comments: I have if nothing else the passion and the time to do this as I'm currently in school taking online classes and it would honestly be a lot of fun.

Edit: Seems we have some shifty people in here that are downvoting folks. I went from 5 upvotes to only 2 <_< lol

Edit 2: Looks like a few people are wanting to get their post a bit higher cause most of the people in this thread are dropping down from 4 and 5 upvotes to 1 and 0 suspiciously. Sad to see a thread like this turn into a downvote war. Sort of ruins the point of voting.

Hey there !

Games played: I don't know exactly, I actually have a bit more than 500 wins, so I guess at least 1k games. Been here since Ahri was released, I think it was around januar 2012, so season 2 :)

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter? Because I'd freaking love it ! I was actually looking into a way to use my spare time in a more productive way and I wanted the game to be part of it. I'd love to bring something to the game and/or the community. I spend a lot of time playing or informing myself about League, especially in this time of pre-season :) I like this game a lot and it would be a pleasure to share my fondness for it with the rest of the community. I also have some experience in writting and I'm ready to put that to good use if necessary !

Where do you get community news from currently? Some third party sites ; sometimes reddit, a lot of surrender@20, the boards (obviously), reign of gaming, lolking (I don't know if that counts), twitter, some summoner friends, and even more that I probably forgot.

Comments: I know 1k games is not much in nearly 3 years, but I never played more because I had a lot of problems with my internet connexion, problems that will be solved this month. I'll soon be able to share this game even more by streaming and maybe blogging about it :)

Here you go, good luck to everyone ! ^.^

Could you please clarify what qualifies as breaking news?

Just official Riot related info (e.g. promo sites, changes to champion pages, etc) or including less official things (e.g. new PBE content, competitive scene rumours, etc).

**Games Played **-I have been playing league since season 1 so I would have to say about 4000 between all of my accounts I play ranked when I feel like it but I play a lot of aram about 10-15 games a day when I have the time.

**Why do I want to become a Community Reporter **- Currently I have a section I do on the boards called League of Legends Bug Reports Patch (whatever patch were on). Whenever we get a new patch I go thru my champion pool in AI games and aram games looking for bugs with each game I play. Than, I post my results on the forums. Every 2 patches I delete the page from 2 patches ago to keep people from getting confused. If I was chosen to become a community reporter I'd be able to get bug news out to the players the second I find it. This would undoubtedly save people the trouble of picking broken champs and getting skrewed in ranked games. I also believe that if someone has a good idea it should get recognized. So I cruise reddit looking for popular new threads and some unpopular threads that look like the information or idea would be good for league and I share it.

My sources currently are (Facebook, reddit, my own gameplay, twitch, friends)

Additional Comments - How about instead I give you some breaking news - Trending now - The new summoners rift, some people believe the new state of summoners rift is everything they've wanted. Unfortunately others think the map is now to muted with not a lot of places to hide anymore. Currently we find that people are putting up polls like this one Vote on new summoners rift yay or neh to find out if others agree that their are problems, or if the map is great the way it is. Please click the link if you would like to vote and make your voice heard on this topic.

This just in Voyboy is back from vacation and is now streaming again on Twitch TV. Be sure to check it out if you want to learn some great mid lane strategies with champions like riven, talon, and syndra. Or just check in and say hello.

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter? I browse these forums very, very frequently and I have a natural ability to write quickly when it comes to creating content. I also have an interest in possibly becoming a writer of some sort as a career, so getting an opportunity like this to create content for a game that I have played for over 3 years would be a great boost of confidence for that.

Where do you get community news from currently? From the forums, from the main website, from friends, from news sites, in that order.

Comments: I tend to spend a lot of my time online and I browse various League sites in my free time (which is almost all of my time), and I also watch a lot of League streams, so I have a tendency to learn about things well in advance of my friends/most people. My interests are all over the place, from eSports, to meta changes, to how to play specific champions, and more, and I can write interesting and informative articles about all of them if given the chance.

**Games played: ** Not sure entirely sure around 2000+ But it is enough to make me love this game for what it is. I've been playing since the start of season 3 and have been a daily player since.

On average I played around 3-5 hours a day since the beginning.

Although I haven't played the first two seasons I have watched and researched to know my history and to see how it all began.

**Why do you want to become a Community Reporter? **

To be honest this is a dream of mine for a very long time the opportunity has never crossed my path.

I wan't to become a Community Reporter because I feel league itself is in a good position but because of this things tend to change frequently and too fast. This community needs a person that willing to step up and give news update by the minute! I don't want summoners to find news from a third party. I am WILLING TO BE THAT GUY WHO WILL GO OVER AND ABOVE JUST TO DELIVER!

I wanna be the guy who gives the good news when their favorite champion gets buffed, I wanna be the guy to say "HEY LCS IS STARTING!"

I just wanna be the Community's right hand man. I know you guys expect a lot and ill promise to deliver!

**Where do you get community news from currently? **

In Game Summoners, Reddit, League Forums, League Home Page, Friends, Email, Twitter, YouTube, Twitch and LOLKing

I check theses sites frequently to get the latest news and updates on the game.

Games Played: About 700 or so, but I don't really know and this is estimated using my LoLking statistics. I'd be surprised if it was over 800.

Why?: I want to improve the community and the interaction it has with Riot as a whole. I am not extremely involved, but it isn't a challenge to discover what the community feels, and I'm fully willing to share both fact and opinion.

Where do I get news?: mobafire, lolking, surrender@20, reign of gaming, the wikia. My friends give me info I've been missing out on, and they're in different ranks, too. For the Boards specifically, I'm usually in Gameplay & Balance or Tips & Tricks, but I still check the front page and visit the other sections occasionally.

Comments: I used to even keep up a PBE updater on the old forums for the benefit of those who didn't check the websites often enough, and could help explain the threads on the topic of PBE changes. It wasn't as useful as I make it sound, because it went without a lot of views, but I enjoyed doing it. It's probably the only reason why I'm bothering to try the community reporter thing.

I don't know what you would even consider "breaking news", mind helping out with that bit?

Exactly how often would you expect reports, and in what sort of quality?

TerriBad Penguin11/15/2014, 7:21:47 AM3 votes

**Games played: **Over 500 I think

**Why do you want to become a Community Reporter?** I want to become a Community Reporter because I feel like I can bring a lot of good to the community and I can write a lot of interesting reports on new features, eSports updates, future game types, and I could also compile suggestions by the community on what they would like to see added/or changed with League of Legends. I feel like I can help represent the community in a non-toxic and insightful way.

Is there any other way to contribute other than being a reporter?

Games played: ~2800 as a rough estimate.

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter? I want to become a Community Reporter because I enjoy community interaction and I look at the websites that share news and admire them. Although I admit I think the description of what a community reporter is needs a little clarification.

Where do you get community news from currently? Twitter, reddit, S@20, forums, league chatrooms. Comments: (optional comments): I do moderate forums (Notessimo.net) and to be honest I do not frequent the league forums too often (Used to have login issues) and I would love to work to improve the forums in a way I can influence.

Hey there Tamat, and welcome to my spooky application! I'm really glad you / Boards staff have created this position!

TL;DR: It's an application, so you're going to have to read it anyways- so without further ado, enjoy! Hey, at least I gave you music to listen to during this app...

Games played: ~1300 normal games, 1100 ranked solo queue games, ~100 ranked team 3s and 5s games over the course of season 4

Why do I want to be a community reporter?: I would love to be a community reporter because I love what League of Legends has to offer already and feel that I bring a lot to the table in the community aspects of gaming. League has been a big part of my life ever since I began the quest to be the best, and I would love have the opportunity to assist Riot in a new venture that is beneficial to the entire community, because (of course) a big part of this is creating a better experience for everyone else! As I've moderated/assisted heavily with community topics in my moderation positions at Mochigames and Ninja Kiwi, I know the ropes! I can definitely go into specifics, if any of you have questions!

And while I am more of a silent member of the Boards, I am quite active in the chat room with the constant discussions about various 'hot-button topics' of League.

I'm also good friends with a couple of the Boards team, so it would truly be my honor to work with them, as well as yourself, Tamat. I have a lot to learn as to how forum moderation/community-handling works!

Where do I get my news from?:

  • Reddit
  • Boards (quite obviously)
  • Boards chatroom
  • Surrender @ 20
  • Facebook

**Comments: ** I look forward to hearing back from you, and thank you for this great opportunity! May this venture be ever so successful.

... and of course, the obligatory Hail Hydra.

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter? I look up a lot of community stuff everyday. Especially champion concepts. And i need a way to spend my time.

Where do you get community news from currently? Boards, Surrender a 20 and Facebook (some LoL themed pages share it)

Hello there :) Games played: So this is hard to say as I have been playing for quite long, starting in season 1, after leaving for a short while then restarting late season 2, I would say I have around 400 normal games and 800 ranked games (wins.... Plus around 500 bot wins and in total mor than 2.5k games)

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter? I want to become a Community Reporter because I feel like I like to express my opinion while giving other players information about certain stuff. I spend a large amount of my time everyday on league and I look forward to PBE related stuff aswell as looking forward to exciting league related stuff, From League related myths, To Cool and fun builds, To really interesting leaks and theories. I also really enjoy typing alot and for a long time I have been in forums, For example Back in 2008 I was active alot in a forum named FluidAnims , forum based on animation, Lasted for 4 years in that forum actively commenting, as for now I havent been so active on forums but I actually am looking forward to.

Where do you get community news from currently? Normally I get My information From Moobeat (twitter) And surrender@20... But I also look forward to recaps and videos about leagues from various amount of people. Plenty of times I just go around the league forums and look at what people have to say too. I try to stay tuned with everything happening as soon as possible

Comments:Rather I get considered or not, This was a ton of fun to write and I think that Riot is making a great job on implementing community into the Creation of content and the fact that Riot is also taking people from the community to report to the community looks like it will be alot of fun... Hopefully I will get to stay tuned with Community news regardless if I get considered or not :)

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter?: i read a lot of post i Reddit and also in the forum i don't post much but i know lot just from reading (if only it apply to ranked game :/) i try my best if i become a reporter to post the latest new as much as i can such as bugs, lcs new.etc

Where do you get community news from currently? i currently get my news from Reddit, forums, twitter (yes from twitter since it better than facebook :P) and sometime during game (cause why not) i mostly get it from twitter as it update better and i follow most of the pros

Games played: Roughly 3000 games so far. (Started in Season 1 but quit before Kog'maw was released, returned at start of season 3 so all but about 20 of my games played are from season 3 on)

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter? The primary reason I would want to be a Community reporter is that I would be able to contribute to the League of Legends community as well as have the possibility to ask questions of Riot pertaining to the silence on subjects (to Morello's dismay most likely.) There is also the privilege of being one of the spokespeople for the community to Riot on subjects of controversial nature. It would also allow myself to have something more to add on my resume for my application to Riot Games once I have completed my Game Design degree roughly five years from now.

Where do you get community news from currently? Primarily the Boards, S@20, once in a while Reign of Gaming, Twitter, Sometimes Reddit (wish Riot would just post on the boards in the first place.)

Comments: I get a lot of heat from some members of the community on my ideas and opinions, anytime someone responds to me on a post I try to give a reply to have continued conversation until either, we find an agreement (if at odds) or we evolve the discussion to another point. I have two years of Game Design experience from college and am planning on returning to start it over after my now three year leave from college as I feel I am now more knowledgeable in Game Design from my conversations with some of the developers in their games forums. My work schedule is roughly nine to ten hour nights at my present job so my availability will be off and on depending on the day as I have no set work days. I don't see myself as the best candidate as there is always someone better no matter what it is you do, I don't usually let a topic go for a long time and don't like to sugar coat information. Presently I am seeing a psychiatrist as I'm working through my issues of depression and my bipolar tendencies, so that I will be a better person in the future for companies to consider for a potential employee. the reason I stated these is that it could impact what you are looking for in a Community Reporter.

Games Played: about 2600-3000 all told

Starting around June 2011 I've done quite a few, mostly normals but I play a decent amount of Dominion, ARAM, and the featured game modes in between.

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter?

It have always felt that the players create just as much of the League experience as Riot itself. Where Riot creates the foundation the community builds on top of it shaping the way they and everyone else experience League in all of its forms.

It wasn't until I started to play League and follow the community myself that I really understood how important that combination is and how it deeply it affects everyone involved. I had always been happy to see how well Riot keeps connected to that community and after seeing how much they rely on one another I couldn't help but feel that they understood this too.

So, all that being said, I want to become a community reporter because I want to help that connection. I want the community to thrive and the experience that everyone has playing League to be shaped along with that success. Being part of that would quite simply be amazing.

Where do you get community news from currently?

Right now it is a mixture of a few sources. Mostly twitter, reddit, Surrender@20, and of course the forums where I peruse most sections although I tend to focus on GD.

Comments

Not really much to say except that I am so glad that this Is something that is happening. Regardless of who is picked anything that can further bind together Riot and the community I am always going to be excited to see.

Alright, I'll give it a go!

**Games Played: **2978 ranked games played, since Season 2

Why?: BECAUSE I CAN. See what I did there? No. Ok... Seriously though, I would like to be a reporter for one reason and one reason only. To spread FACTS. Too often have I seen people fed misinformation, too often have I seen people unaware of a situation or upcoming event. I am a person who firmly believes that knowledge is the most important thing a person can have. I'm certainly not the most altruistic person around, but I do sincerely enjoy helping people. I would the opportunity to make a difference to people, even if it is a small one.

Sources: Boards, Reddit, Surrender@20, ReignofGaming.

**Comments: ** I already jump around the forums, so some of you guys may know me. I may argue with you, I may agree with you, I may go off on a random tangent altogether. But I think we can all agree that at the end of the day, we're all just trying to make League a better place as we see it. So help me help you to do that. AND REMEMBER A VOTE FOR ME IS A VOTE FOR AMMMEERRIICCAAA!!

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter?

Becoming a Community Reporter would be partly a dream come true to work with Riot in an official fashion. Aside from that, I would enjoy providing information to the community that is not easily come across. I'm always trying to share my knowledge with those around me and this position would take me to greater heights in that effort.

>Where do you get community news from currently?
  • Surrender@20

  • High level streamers such as The Odd One, IAmAQTPie, Nightblue, Bjergson, Trick2G, Wildturtle, and SivHD

  • Numerous Blogs that feature LoL Art and fan made projects

  • I follow many Youtube accounts dedicated to bringing LoL News, tips, tactics, creations and discussions to its viewers.

  • Word of mouth, I have a lot of friends who play League and are looking at LoL news daily, and share it with me

  • Occasional participant in the PBE, and I still have an account from when they were permanent.

I kept this short and sweet and attempted to leave space for your eyes to rest since you will have to read numerous posts. If you would like me to elaborate please say so. Thank you for your consideration.

Sounds super interesting

Games Played Hard to give an exact number because I play ARAM, Dominion and Hide and Seek a lot too. I know it's at least 2.5k total, but it could be higher.

Why do you want to be a community reporter? I absolutely love writing, especially journalism and reporting. I'm a senior in highschool and currently run my school's literary magazine, as well as my school's debate team. I think that LOL is an awesome game filled with complexity, and I value transparency in terms of communication and discussion. I think it'd be lots of fun to dig up interesting topics or issues within the game and then report them, and it'd be good practice for when I (hopefully) obtain a career as a writer.

Where do you get your community news from? I frequent the forums and Surrender@20, as well as watch the redtracker for riot posts. I mainly pay attention to champion balance and the current design status of different champions and adjustments to the balance of SR (I.E. Gameplay updates, visual updates, buffs, nerfs, new items, etc). I also pay a lot of attention to ongoing discusssions about dominion and ARAM,

Comments I think it's really cool that you guys are doing this. I don't like the fact that because there are about 20 threads for any given topic, riot has no way of adequately informing its readers of answers to their questions. You guys do great work as a company in trying to communicate with your user base and in making all of your decisions both transparent and open for discussion, and I would really appreciate being a part of that.

Thank you for your consideration.

This is strictly for news?

Would editorials or, say, speculative articles like a sports columnist predicting how the local team will perform next season, would that sort of stuff fly here?

Are editors needed?

Games played: (#) Probably in the ballpark of 2000-2500 consisting of Normals, Ranked, Dominion, TT, Customs etc. 2134 hours spent in game and countless more on forums.

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter? I want to become a Community Reporter because I'm interested and invested in the development of a community hub that focuses primarily on the League website. Instead of resorting to 3rd party websites, I'd much prefer if these features were on the official site. The community should be solid, not fractured across numerous urls.

Where do you get community news from currently? Surrender@20, Reign of Gaming, Youtubers such as Pawnce for PBE info. Sometimes frequent Reddit or the General Discussion Chat Room.

Comments: (optional comments): Since joining in S1 I've seen countless sites fill a void that could have been monopolized by the main site itself. I one day hope to have more in-depth profiles and even guides hosted on the site. For now, making the main site the go to source for Leauge info is going to be a logical and extremely necessary start.

Why do you want to become a Community Reporter?

I want to become a community reporter because it will allow me to combine my passion for League with my love for writing and reporting. I would love to work alongside a team of writers in order to bring fast, up to date reports on everything League related. It is an exciting prospect to be apart of the construction of the new board team and have an active role in transforming it into a place renowned for immediate access to information. As a community reporter it would be my goal to inform the League community of an array of information regarding the game in a speedy, easy to understand manner. I would work in tandem with fellow team members to actively shape the board into a well-documented, reader friendly, respectable product - with the ultimate goal of providing constant up to date information in a professional, accessible manner. Ultimately, I firmly believe I would be a valued member of the team, relaying personal opinions on the shaping of the board whilst also reinforcing the importance of the team actively suggesting ideas and thoughts to advance the board. I have spent countless hours studying the game to better myself as a player, and I firmly believe that my pursuit of knowledge has allowed me access to sources of information that can be applicable to my reporting position in order to achieve accurate information. I promise to deliver my work with enthusiasm and passion, and will actively support other team members in producing high quality work.I look forward to being apart of an ever advancing team of writers and reporters that can aim to deliver a high quality stream of breaking news to players.

Completed English Advanced, Extension 1, Extension 2 here in Australia, the latter requiring a major body of work be constructed over the course of a year to be presented to the Board of Studies. As such I feel I am well equipped with the skills of research and development of a major piece of work and have also spent countless hours studying literature. Also, me being in Australia will offer a benefit of allowing constant coverage with the time difference. I am excited at the prospect of working alongside the Community Reporters and Boards Team.
