can anyone tell me why this happens or if its just normal bc ive never seen this before, thanks :)

That's new this season. It's to help people climb essentially. Say you're trying to get from Silver 1 to Gold 5, this requires a "Best of 5" Promotional Series. If you get there once and lose 3 of those games, the next time you get 100 LP and qualify for a Promo Series, your "Best of 5" should have one win in it already, meaning you have to win two games to advance.
I don't remember if it happens a second time (giving you two free wins in a "Best of 5" scenario).
