Riot, the way customers are treated needs to be reviewed and set with new guidelines!
Last week (4.17-4.20) sale, displayed Darius, Wukong, and Singed, along with some skins of course. I was ecstatic to see that Darius and Wukong were on sale, since I wanted to add them to my champion roster anyways. So after getting home from work, I purchased $20 of RP (1380 RP), to buy the two champs. At the time I had about 12k IP (should be able to see where I'm going with this by now). Yes, I went to purchase Darius and misclicked purchase with IP instead of RP. As soon as I realized that my RP balance hadn't decreased, I looked at my IP and seen the change. I accidentally spent 6300 IP on a champ that was on sale for 487 RP (normally 975 RP)! Immediately I emailed support explaining what had happened and had asked if the 6300 IP could be replaced onto the account and exchanged for 487 RP. Being as it was on sale and I thoroughly explained it was a misclick, I assumed there would be an "exception" and I would receive an email basically saying, "Sure no problem! You'll see the changes in IP and RP the next time you log on!". That is not the response I received. Turns out I was let down and was told that there was no currency exchange at this time. Hold on a second, you mean the money that I put into your game, your pockets, onto your dinner table, into your gas tank, can't be exchanged on an honest mistake? I even brought up the point that I didn't wish to use a refund credit on a small mistake like that. It was an honest mistake, which everyone will/can make! We're all human here (except for the AI bots). People make mistakes! It happens every day! Instead, I was forced to use a refund credit to obtain my 6300 IP back and then had to repurchase Darius with RP. Sure, I'm not getting paid to make exchanges, but in all fairness I'm paying them to do exchanges! I was upset that the situation had to result in me using a refund credit. I mean we only get 3 refund credits throughout the longevity of our LoL account!
That being said, I know there is other posts about refund credits, but this is a prime example of why there should be refund credits distributed once a year. I think it would be more than fair to say that giving 3 refund credits upon the date your account was created would be amazing. Sure, it might take some time, but there should be a Database that stores all the information of the time an account was created to the last time you logged out. This information should already be generated on Riot's file servers! A macro could be created to pull, per day, every account that was created that day and refill their refund credits back to 3 (sure this might take a little bit of time, but being as Riot is full of programmers they should be able to bond together to create this)! This being said, I'm not saying to give everyone 3 refund credits for those that do save theirs for when the time is right. But chances are, when you purchase something, you're going to keep it! What I am saying though, is for those who have a credit refund balance of 0, 1, or 2, bump them back up to 3. If they already have 3 refund credits, don't give them any. It's that simple.
It bothers me that if you purchase a champ/skin for full price, 2 weeks prior to that champ/skin going on sale, you can get a refund for half the cost of the champ/skin to even out the difference. So, you're saying that an intentional purchase is ok for Riot to refund the RP since that champ/skin is on sale and a refund credit doesn't have to be used. But for somebody that accidentally purchased with the wrong currency 5 minutes after they had bought RP to purchase the current champ/skin on sale and sent an email right after they noticed, has to use a refund credit? That, to me, is dumb. I was very disappointed at the way this situation turned out.
Any thoughts?
