This is the second time in two days my ISP went down in the middle of a game

Double check your router, monitor your bandwidth with services such as Ookla speedtest and if it is indeed your ISP call them, give them details/patterns to your service and demand a fix. Most of the time it's calls like that that are their first indication of an issue.
