Runes Honestly Need to be a Little Cheaper

Let's face it Riot, we know you'd rather have us spend our IP on runes and buy RP for champs, but that just isn't a practical outlook on League for most (90%+) of players. (that's the REAL reason you can't buy runes with RP) If the price of T3 runes was reduced to be more in line with the stats they provide and their T1 and T2 counterparts (10x more for +2 armor) then people might even be willing to pay the unreasonable price you set for rune pages. Think of it like this, runes are the stats, pages let you diversify. Hindering someone because they don't the extra IP to buy the runes they want to play a champ is honestly a little bit mean. And having to decide no whether to buy and fill one more page or buying 2 or 3 6300 IP champions is outrageous.

TL;DR : Even like a 50% reduction in rune prices would put runes on an affordable scale, and more players would be on even ground because they can actually AFFORD to fill their rune pages.

EDIT: Someone mentioned what would probably be another alternative that might make Riot happier (aka we'd still spend a lot of IP on Runes instead of champs). Lazergamer suggested that runes be parts of the rewards system, where after X number of games you could unlock a free mark, then seal, than glyph, etc. I'm not asking for a shortcut to be a "good player". I just don't like the idea of paying 20K+ IP to fill a rune page that helps 2-3 of my champions.

They should honestly just have been free, like masteries are. They do have a big role in game play, especially when jungling.

The amount it would cost to fill a rune page with T3 runes would be enough to buy at least 3 6300IP champs.

I honestly think that runes should be removed from the game.

They're just unfair. When I came into this game, I knew nothing about runes or masteries. I got my first runes after I was level 30 with about 150 wins on my first account, and my lack of runes probably lost me a few games. In laning phase, going against someone who has 20 more damage than you right from the start just doesn't seem fair to me.

Also, Riot, I want to buy champions. But I HAVE to buy runes if I want to win games. The advantage is just too big to give up.

If anything needs to be cheaper, it's the 6300 IP cost of a single rune page....... And the 2k IP cost of 1 movement speed quintessence. Seriously Riot? 2k for 1 ms quint?

You guys want everything for free rofl....the game being free on its own is not enough I guess...Riot is offering you their game FOR FREE as your personal entertainment almost every day for almost 5 years now and yet you guys still want more.

The cost of tier 3 runes is too damn high!

Selk3t3/24/2015, 3:17:46 AM4 votes

Here we go with this again........"People who put less time and effort into the game are at a disadvantage"..............Yeah, pretty much............... Based on the complaints we always hear in these threads the ppl that are making them don't play LoL seriously enough to even need more than 2 rune pages(maybe 3) because if you did you wouldn't be whining about rune cost......

I wish one of you would just cut the crap and just admit that you want more free stuff, its not enough that the entire game is free and the only thing that cost money are cosmetic features. Why dont we just start with level 30 accounts while were at it and hey start games with an extra 2k gold. Oh oh I got it, how about as soon as the game loads in you are already at the victory screen looking at a destroyed Nexus?

Why put in at time or effort into the game at all, in fact why don't you just not play league and tell ppl you already won worlds?

heck even a 25% reduction be great. Making a 2k ip rune down to 1500, means i have to win 5 games less for 1 dam rune...

RattleKnight3/25/2015, 3:05:35 PM2 votes

haha I need runepage to be cheaper too

You aren't supposed to be on even ground as soon as you hit level 30. You're asking for everything to be made easier because you can't be bothered to put in the time to build your rune pages like every other player.

Got 1 million IP?

When the next champion is released, even that much IP can no longer buy all content (champions, tier 3 runes, and rune pages) in League of Legends.

Yes, these posts have been coming for quite some time. But Reds never respond to then or address anything regarding rune cost, from what I have seen. I agree that they should be much cheaper, but apparently Riot doesn't want that.

I've come to the conclusion that they're just stalling this out. Which I don't understand. They're at a crux point in the age of their game, where the accessibility wall needs to come down as much as possible.

I also get the sinking feeling their alternative might end up being to buff IP boosts instead (which are currently a terrible value trap) where they can actually cash in off the community instead of helping it directly.

It does slow down the process, but as a long time league player I have made many smurfs and highly recommend you save IP to lvl 20/30 and than you can buy ap and ad standard tier 3 runes. Champions are hard to come by and even using IP to buy them would take a lot of hours to get even a few champions for regular IP price

JumbaJoopleakley3/24/2015, 5:17:33 PM2 votes

At this point I wouldn't even care about a refund. Just being able to experiment with the runes and effectively play roles would be nice. They're so expensive when they could be fun like masteries. People also call you out for having the wrong runes, which sucks. "Sorry I didn't have the 20000 Ip needed to have the right rune page. I'll go play for a year and come back to you."

While they might not be making Runes cheaper, they're giving us party rewards for queueing with friends. That was pretty much like buying an IP boost, I got so much IP. They also give us sales and stuff throughout the year. Runes are more important than Champions, I think they're fine the way they are.
