Optimism vs Pessimism vs Realism
When it comes to me I consider myself a realist. Some people might call me a pessimist. I definitely wouldn't say I'm an optimist. When I can read the situation of a game and I see for instance a their jungler is 10-2 at 20 minutes and their top laner is dominating and cs and already has inhib turret for instance, I look at it possibly a bit pessimistically, but most people would. I'd say the chances of us coming back from that are so slim that it's just not worth playing. Yes I admit there is a chance, but it's not fun to play those games and we have no control over the game and they are diving our turrets. I'm not looking at it like we have no chance, but really come on our chances of coming back from that are so slim.
What annoys me is overly optimistic people. I'm optimistic in a way. I find the fun in losing, I am grateful for the little things and I am happy with them. But I'm not going to walk into an exam knowing nothing and say "I'm sure I can still get an A." I don't think that's optimism, I think's that's just stupidity.
The reason I made this post is for one stupid quote. A certain quote people say "people that say they can or can't do it, are usually right." WELL NO SHIT! That's just common sense and doesn't prove or mean anything. In the same example. How many people that are walking into the exam and did or didn't study are saying they can or can't do it. And how many of them are right? Most of them are probably right because most of them are kidding themselves that they are going to get a good grade without studying.
