So I join this aram and this someone gets akali and posts in chat let the pentas start rolling in. Anyway as the game progresses she gets more and more cocky. This is a level 30, playing akali, thinking that akali takes any skill whatsoever. Her and yi start carrying the game and when we just about one it, our poppy says "gg we won it", in response to that, akali said "naw I won it". So I say that akali takes no skill to play, especially in aram. She explodes saying that akali takes a lot of skill and then yi joins in defending akali, YI! Anyway, the two start cussing at me for saying champs like annie, akali, katarina, yi, and talon take no skill in aram. After the game ends, akali starts praising everyone in the lobby and then continues to flame me like a child, I didn't respond. Anyway this level 30 challenged a level 24 to a match and so she gets on akali I get on renek and I go 1/1 with her and then quit. She challenges me to a full rematch so I pick Ahri and 3/3 with her. She starts cussing at me and I leave. Anyway this got me thinking, does she take any skill or is she just the faceroll q-r-e-r-r-e champ I thought she was?

Every champ takes skill to play. Some take a different kind of skill. Akali is all point and click, but she's also an "all in" champ. She has to wait for just the right moment to go in, make sure to pick he right target, and know when to pop her smoke. Doing It wrong means youre instantly dead and your team is out a big portion of its damage.

Other champs that have a lot of skillshots like Morg, Xerath, Ziggs, etc take a lot more skill in using thier abilites, but the timing doesn't matter as much. If youre playing Xerath, timing your q is no big deal. Essentially, you should just be spamming it to poke them down as much as possible before your team engages. And if you miss, so what? It only cost you a bit of mana and 5 seconds of cooldown. Try again.

They both take skill, just of a different variety. See what I mean?

Yes Akali takes plenty of skill. There's a big difference between "mechanical skill" and "judgement skill." Akali is pretty simple mechanically because she's point and click. On the flip side she's more demanding in the judgement department, because unlike most other assassins Akali doesn't have an escape. When she jumps in, she's literally jumping in with both feet. If she jumps in at the wrong time, she's dead. If she jumps in at the right time, great things can happen.
