What champion composition is best for a general game?

I was just wondering what the best composition for a regular game of Summoners Rift would be. What I mean by this is, how many mages/ranged/melee champions should there be? Is there a big importance if you have only ranged, both physical and mage, or and even amount of everything. I dont really know what the perfect combination is. Is it one melee assassin, 1 ranged mage, and 2 melee and a ranged adc? Being as I'm fairly new to League of Legends, (and the boards), I would like to know what everyone thinks. I hope that for my first thread on the boards isn't considered "a question everyone asks" and where there are so many of these. I would like to know what the best comp. is for normal, and if it even matters.

I think composition goes deeper than basic roles. You should really think about the strategic value in each pick. Mobility, CC, spell uptime, power curves, etc are all important in developing a strong team.

I don't think there is a best comp per se, since every team comp could technically be counterpicked if the game is in a state of healthy balance.

Its generally accepted that you will always have some mix of physical and magical damage and a ranged ADC. Aside from that, you could do split push, lock down, wombo combo, early rush, late stall, objective control. Pick champions that support a specific strategy.
