Why do people want to be assholes?
Especially after Dunkey, people have been complaining about why being toxic is a reportable offense... seriously?
Why is it not common sense to just be nice to each other?

Wow. The trolls are out in magnum force on this thread. Or maybe they're just dunkey fanboys, IDK. Not that the two are necessarily mutually exclusive.
Hey, for those of you who think that League players are becoming thin-skinned, and that they're offended by everything here is a FACT you've all overlooked:
It is a VIOLATION of the game's TOS to swear at other players. It is a VIOLATION of the game's TOS to make threats, be they death threats, rape threats, DDOS threats, docs threats, or SWAT threats. It is a VIOLATION of the game's TOS to sexually harass women in this game. It is a VIOLATION of the game's TOS to attempt to coerce suicide.
Do you all see the common words here? Here's a hint: It's "VIOLATION OF THE GAME'S TOS." It's not negotiable. It's all there, black and white (and has been since the beta), and if and when you violate the TOS, Riot reserves the right to BAN YOU. PERMANENTLY. They don't have to give a warning. They don't have to give chat-bans, restrict you to certain modes of gameplay, or any of that. One violation, and they can throw you out on your little behinds. Do you get what I'm saying here? Up until now, RIOT HAS BEEN LENIENT WITH YOU. VERY lenient. So lenient that they let the community go to pot to the point that there's a STIGMA on it. This is changing, and that's because the nature of the game is changing. This isn't just a video game anymore. This is a professional e-sport. People make six figures playing this game, and there are schools offering scholarships based on your rank. RITO is not going to allow unsportsmanlike conduct to run rampant in their e-sport. And that's exactly what toxicity is: Unsportsmanlike conduct. Whether I can chuckle off being called a "retard" for going 0/6 as Trist is irrelevant. Calling me a retard in the first place is UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT. And there's no room in this e-sport for that kind of crap, and you are not special.
Dunkey thought he was special. He thought just because he was a "youtube celebrity," he was above the law. His video is just him being butthurt about not being able to get away with death-threats, and RIOT treating him like they would any other gamer in that situation. If he had just reported the Malphite like he should have and kept his mouth shut, he wouldn't have gotten a two-week ban. He acts as though he's done RIOT a favor, out of the sheer goodness of his heart, by making all those League videos. The real truth is that he makes money every time you click on one of his League videos, and no matter how much they cry poor-mouth, youtubers make a lot more than you think. So the reality is that it's the other way around; RIOT did HIM a favor. He made those videos FTL, and he got rich off of them. And if he was being as toxic as he indicated on his last League video, it was AT THIS COMMUNITY'S EXPENSE. So fanboys, here's a wake-up call. He doesn't care about you; he took the money and ran. And what a shock: I'm actually on RITO's side on this one.
Newsflash to every youtuber out there making videos of you trolling League: I don't owe you my attention. I don't owe you my time. I don't owe you my money. I don't owe you anything. Neither does this community. Neither does RIOT. You're not offering free advertising; you're exploiting an already-popular game for fame and fortune and polluting this community while doing it.
Because most of those people are losers who haven't accomplished anything with their lives. They are so bitter in real life but they lack the courage to express it in a healthy way so instead they hide behind a computer screen and bad mouth complete strangers because it makes them feel better about their pathetic existence.
I'm sure I'll get some people pissed off at me for saying this but it's true. I say what I say to help victims realize how pathetic these people are and how little their insults should mean to you. Just feel bad for them, report them at the end of the game and move on with your life.
My favorite is when they pretend that they got reported for being the kindest person on the face of the planet, and try and use that to say the report system is flawed.
People complaining about toxic report are stupid. A game is supposed to be fun and if you ruin it for other players you should be reported.

Because they think messages sent IRL and through computer screens are actually different.
They can spew whatever the heck they want through computer screens because they don't get punished IRL (such as being socked in the face) when saying things that would've trigger others to do such actions there. Even though they can still get punished on the internet for saying bullsh!t, but the consequences aren't that bad... at least in their opinions.
TLDR their parents never taught them basic manners such as "please", "thank you", and "sorry" thoroughly.
Mostly because some players get too invested into the game, and gets infuriated by their teammates who aren't performing well. Imagine you are in a group project and one person never does anything and sets you all behind, it is kind of like that, except for League.
These people often takes the game too seriously. In reality, they stopped having fun far before anyone else in the game (including the person/people they rage at).
Dunkey had a ban coming to him due to his history of toxicity, but he did make some valid points. League is a team game, and each team is only as strong as its weakest player. In most games outside of LCS, victory and defeat is often decided by the worst player in the game who screws up the most.
League's ranked system is fundamentally flawed because of this. Normal games are fine because nothing is at stake, but in ranked, players are often not evaluated properly by their own merit. This of course leads to at least some feelings of indignation in even the kindest players when their teammates are not giving enough effort, or when their teammates are deliberately trying to throw the game. Most "toxic" players I know in real life are actually nice people. League is just frustrating to play when you are taking it too seriously.
The remaining minority of toxic players just troll because it is fun to do so and have nothing better to do.
