No, when someone tells you to "kill yourself" they don't actually mean you should go shoot yourself in the face because you took their creeps. And people like you are fully willing to put these people down into the dirt simply because they aren't playing well. You value your 30 mins of entertainment over other people's emotions. THAT is the problem, my good sir.

Only cause they can effect people. The key word is "CAN"; they do not always effect people. Threats are only meaningful if you believe that the person is capable of following through with it. Courts will throw out a case if you can not prove that you have legitimate concern outside of 1 incident of a person saying x.

My point is that in real life we shake off most things and have an expectation to do so. On the internet we get people that are overly sensitive and people going overboard.

No one should be saying i am going to hunt you down, but lets be honest most people that use these boards can't even find themselves let alone finding someone else. At some point people need to have a reasonable doubt standard. I have seen people say we need to contact the police/FBI cause of a death threat in the game. The person should be punished yes but there is no way that it is a legit threat.

The fact legit critism "talking about a players AP rivan build" in game can not happen at this point. It has fallen to let rito take care of it. I am being a toxic player for questioning other peoples decisions; which is quite silly.

Riot has caused a situation where people are being overly sensitive and the standards are being created by these people.

Let's focus on that please.

Be sensitive to the fact that people react differently to written word and be respectful of that fact, you have to know what your intent of saying something is and you are the one that has to think how to present that in text. For your example, talking about an AP riven build. What are you intending to say to that person? Do your want to ask why they are building that way? Then ask politely. Or do you just think they are trolling and want to flame them by saying something like, "why are you building AP riven! Report for trolling!"

More often than not it's the latter. And that's the problem. You don't know what that person is doing. Stop being so quick to judge others and think before you type. If that guy is trolling than Ok, report and move on. If not why use the same response and ruin your chances of just trying to ask a question.

Hey, for those of you who think that League players are becoming thin-skinned, and that they're offended by everything here is a FACT you've all overlooked:

It is a VIOLATION of the game's TOS to swear at other players. It is a VIOLATION of the game's TOS to make threats, be they death threats, rape threats, DDOS threats, docs threats, or SWAT threats. It is a VIOLATION of the game's TOS to sexually harass women in this game. It is a VIOLATION of the game's TOS to attempt to coerce suicide.

Do you all see the common words here? Here's a hint: It's "VIOLATION OF THE GAME'S TOS." It's not negotiable. It's all there, black and white (and has been since the beta), and if and when you violate the TOS, Riot reserves the right to BAN YOU. PERMANENTLY. They don't have to give a warning. They don't have to give chat-bans, restrict you to certain modes of gameplay, or any of that. One violation, and they can throw you out on your little behinds. Do you get what I'm saying here? Up until now, RIOT HAS BEEN LENIENT WITH YOU. VERY lenient. So lenient that they let the community go to pot to the point that there's a STIGMA on it. This is changing, and that's because the nature of the game is changing. This isn't just a video game anymore. This is a professional e-sport. People make six figures playing this game, and there are schools offering scholarships based on your rank. RITO is not going to allow unsportsmanlike conduct to run rampant in their e-sport. And that's exactly what toxicity is: Unsportsmanlike conduct. Whether I can chuckle off being called a "retard" for going 0/6 as Trist is irrelevant. Calling me a retard in the first place is UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT. And there's no room in this e-sport for that kind of crap, and you are not special.

Dunkey thought he was special. He thought just because he was a "youtube celebrity," he was above the law. His video is just him being butthurt about not being able to get away with death-threats, and RIOT treating him like they would any other gamer in that situation. If he had just reported the Malphite like he should have and kept his mouth shut, he wouldn't have gotten a two-week ban. He acts as though he's done RIOT a favor, out of the sheer goodness of his heart, by making all those League videos. The real truth is that he makes money every time you click on one of his League videos, and no matter how much they cry poor-mouth, youtubers make a lot more than you think. So the reality is that it's the other way around; RIOT did HIM a favor. He made those videos FTL, and he got rich off of them. And if he was being as toxic as he indicated on his last League video, it was AT THIS COMMUNITY'S EXPENSE. So fanboys, here's a wake-up call. He doesn't care about you; he took the money and ran. And what a shock: I'm actually on RITO's side on this one.

Newsflash to every youtuber out there making videos of you trolling League: I don't owe you my attention. I don't owe you my time. I don't owe you my money. I don't owe you anything. Neither does this community. Neither does RIOT. You're not offering free advertising; you're exploiting an already-popular game for fame and fortune and polluting this community while doing it.

I don't know about suing, but she could press charges which would then in turn inform the parents of the need to discipline their child. Likely the kid would get a slap on the wrists at most, but I bet that kid would think twice before doing it again. Since the legal system looks at kids differently than adults, this would be absolutely warranted and a valuable learning experience.

They are so bitter in real life but they lack the courage to express it in a healthy way so instead they hide behind a computer screen and bad mouth complete strangers because it makes them feel better about their pathetic existence.

I think the point people are making is that if purposely feeding doesn't get you banned while flaming does flaming shouldn't be bannable. Honestly, I would much rather have someone flame me for 40 mins (I can just mute them as soon as they do flame me though lol) without me being able to mute them than have a DC or an intentional feeder. Even if I can't mute them, I can just not read the chat and watch for pings while looking at the map.

I think that if someone is talking shit but they are playing well and contributing to the team effort, they shouldn't be banned. Someone who ACTS toxic, as in, they don't group on purpose, they feed on purpose, or they DC, should be banned. I feel like what's happening is that people are trolling matches in one of these three ways and, in response, one of their teammates flames them out. Because finding evidence for flaming is so easy, the teammate who was playing well gets banned while the troller doesn't get banned because finding evidence for trolling is so hard to do and so subjective that finding actual concrete evidence required for a ban is nearly impossible.

I feel like flaming shouldn't be bannable for this reason.

Not only that, but flaming can be easily prevented by acting better than the other person and muting them while not responding to any of their inflammatory remarks.

Yes, people who flame are in the wrong for the most part, but sometimes flaming is induced by someone on the flamer's team doing something purposely to induce rage.

While you can mute a flamer, you can't stop a person from not grouping, DCing, or intentionally feeding. Flaming should not be bannable.

Thousands of murders go unsolved in this country every year, guess the police aren't doing a good job either.

Businesses have millions of dollars stolen in merchandise per year, guess they aren't doing a good job either.

For every business or profession on the planet I can find **exceptions **that make that business or profession look like they aren't doing their job.

The point is that just because you can find an **exception **doesn't mean its a bad system. Even the best systems in the world have anomalies and outliers. I'm not saying that Riot's system is one of the best in the world but its pretty obvious that they have made huge improvements and they continue to role out new features and new ways to stop toxicity.

Your point is completely off topic though. This whole discussion was started because you seem to think that you're justified in being toxic to someone. Sorry but two wrongs don't make a right, doesn't matter if its in the real world or league of legends. You signed Riot's terms of use which means you agreed to follow the summoner's code. Yes I do think that everyone who logs onto a video game to insult people and/or ruin other peoples' games is a loser. What kind of person needs to do that? Obviously someone who is not happy in real life and who cannot deal with their frustration in a normal and healthy way. Combine this with the fact that these people frequently get chat restricted/banned and yet still play the game because they have multiple accounts. This means that they are devoting a substantial part of their life to playing this video game.

So if we have a person who is frustrated with their life and spend a huge amount of their day playing video games what are they? Obviously they're a loser. Successful people know how to deal with frustration in healthy ways. Successful people are also too busy to devote large amounts of time to a video games.

Premades that report 1 person have a report value of 1 anyway.

Basically, a premade of 3 could report 1 person, but since they're in the same premade it would only count as 1 person reporting 1 person rather than 3 people reporting 1 person.

They can spew whatever the heck they want through computer screens because they don't get punished IRL (such as being socked in the face) when saying things that would've trigger others to do such actions there. Even though they can still get punished on the internet for saying bullsh!t, but the consequences aren't that bad... at least in their opinions.

TLDR their parents never taught them basic manners such as "please", "thank you", and "sorry" thoroughly.

Mostly because some players get too invested into the game, and gets infuriated by their teammates who aren't performing well. Imagine you are in a group project and one person never does anything and sets you all behind, it is kind of like that, except for League.

These people often takes the game too seriously. In reality, they stopped having fun far before anyone else in the game (including the person/people they rage at).

Dunkey had a ban coming to him due to his history of toxicity, but he did make some valid points. League is a team game, and each team is only as strong as its weakest player. In most games outside of LCS, victory and defeat is often decided by the worst player in the game who screws up the most.

League's ranked system is fundamentally flawed because of this. Normal games are fine because nothing is at stake, but in ranked, players are often not evaluated properly by their own merit. This of course leads to at least some feelings of indignation in even the kindest players when their teammates are not giving enough effort, or when their teammates are deliberately trying to throw the game. Most "toxic" players I know in real life are actually nice people. League is just frustrating to play when you are taking it too seriously.

The remaining minority of toxic players just troll because it is fun to do so and have nothing better to do.
