Yeah... and the people who actually pick support don't ward and auto attack lanes... or build ad or ap items instead of actually supporting.

I've dominated lane with a Lucian support. They were a good support, warded, understood enemy cooldowns and poked the enemy down to where I could take advantage. You can play anyone support, if you're good with Lee Sin and a good support you can be a good support Lee Sin. Off-Meta supports shouldn't be dismissed, sometimes they can be just effective enough to win.

Diamonds play off meta picks all the time though just like the other tiers. They make youtube videos about it all the time.
