Using the word "kid" as an insult is idiotic. You don't know their age, and in the end it doesn't matter. There are plenty of kids who are more mature than adults you run into on the internet.
It's possibly the "never surrender" attitude. Stick around the boards long enough and you'll run into it. Some people are more than willing to waste a little time just so they can get a chance at a win. They play for the win, not for the joy of competition.
It could also just be trolls that hate you.
