Why I'm Starting to Hate League of Legends

It's not Riot's balance decisions, it's not the champ reworks, or new champs, it's RiotLyte, and what he's been doing to the community. What doesn't make my game any worse, or any better? People being toxic, people talking shit, in other words, children being children. This has been, and will always be a reality in human existence, and will not go away. Gone are the days of people learning to deal with hurt feelings, or god forbid USING THE DAMN TOOLS PROVIDED to avoid the shit talk altogether (mute button, block button, etc.). No, now we have an algorithm that just bans people because what they may have said COULD have been toxic. You are raising a player base that will be riddled with entitlement, filled with children wanting handouts because billy didn't give them their way. What does ruin my experience? STILL losing LP after having a LONG DURATION AFK (BUT NO, IT'S COOL, YOU GUYS BANNED THE GUY WHO WAS A LITTLE FRUSTRATED AND SAID SOME STUPID SHIT GOOD WORK RIOTLYTE), you guys STILL not having an LCS game build and balance team and a recreational game build and balance team, you guys treating your player base like absolute fucking infants (with the hurt feeling coddling).

I have been playing this game since early season 1, and in ALL that time, ALL that time, I have never had a worse time playing this game. What hasn't changed? The shit talk, the trolls, the AFKs, the community in general (besides the obvious average age decline). What HAS changed? Riot's (read RiotLyte's) stance on how to deal with it. You bought into the whiners without educating them on how to avoid the harassment and you have taken development time and money from dealing with things to improve ranked play, quicken champ release and balance, etc. I don't blame the LCS (tbh it's just ever a boring korean vs korean worlds that end in a one sided victory anyway), I don't blame the players, I don't even blame all of Riot. I blame RiotLyte, and his gross incompetency on dealing with toxic GAMEPLAY (you know, the thing that SHOULD be addressed) and driving that ever crying victim complex down the throat of the players.

The best way to not let a game frustrate you is to play multiple games. Just take a break from League and play something else for a bit. If you actually do enjoy League you'll come back when you're ready.

I think people should learn to deal with someone calling them trash. Honestly if you can't handle someone saying "wow you suck" in all chat, you probably should just disable your chat because you clearly take things to heart.

I've always said the game itself and certain easy to fix issues (safe-to-leave option with afks, methods to deal with ingame trolls/intentional feeders, banning new champs in ranked, etc) spawns the "toxicity". Losing a game due to these kinds of issues makes the game feel like a complete waste of time and that inevitably frustrates people. People do not like having their time wasted, this frustration is a natural human response to having one's time wasted. RiotLyte is literally trying to stomp out NATURAL HUMAN INSTINCT and it's actually scary that people buy what he says. He brings up fake unbacked statistics and people just gobble the shit up as fact because PhD.

I've never seen this point of view receive upvotes before, usually just gets downvoted by delicate SJW carebears; thank fuck other people feel this way.

I've really never understood the urge people have to talk shit to other people in a game. Why would you do something that potentially sabotages your own performance to insult somebody else that's probably on your team? It only has negative outcomes. So from the perspective of someone who wants to play optimally and win, trash-talking people on your team is a bad strategy. And that's not even getting into the subject of setting one of your own teammates on tilt or the breakdown of communication because half the team has the other half muted.

As for why toxic chat is dealt with quicker than toxic gameplay, that's because it's very cut and dry. There are logs and most of the sorting process can be automated - If you say these words or these phrases then you're on the express track to the Tribunal. Toxic gameplay requires reviewing a long stretch of a game and as a result demands more of a case by case evaluation. It's basic task management.

I couldn't agree more. The game has steadily gotten worse since Lytes entrance and the tribunals disappearance.

I still don't understand how telling someone the truth is toxic. If im feeding, im a feeder. If i'm bronze 5, im bad at the game, there really isnt any argument about that, if I'm trying to make my team lose, im a troll. Why is this toxic to say? Why is nothing done about actual game breaking issues? I'll never know, and Lyte will never explain.

Man, if you were to see my comments, you would see how much i aswell hate Lyte XD H is the weakest branch at Riot games. he just thinks he is the mighty hammer.

This sums up my experience for a few weeks now. I keep falling in bad divisons because every game I get a toxic player who ruins everything. Trolls, goes afk and flames. And I don't understand how in the world I get at least 1 toxic player 4 games in a row. (today and yesterday). And nobody gives a fuck about this. I waste time..really..I struggle to win with these players in my team. I get decent scores and still lose after..I'm really tired. Balance this game!!!

Yea this game is way too sensitive to hurt feelings. People shouldn't be punished for harsh language, but people should be permabanned for trolling their teams like some people do. The worst part about the banning algorithms is that I've played with annoying little kids who do stuff like feed, and then type in chat like their teammates (us good guys) are the ones trolling.

Ex:

  1. Teammate doesn't get their desired role or champ.
  2. Teammate feeds, becomes troll.
  3. Troll says stuff like "Stop flaming me" "It's just a game" in chat
  4. My poor innocent teammates get banned, and of course there's the waste of time that was the entire match.

someone said this the other day "he annoyed me and now he is just going to get away scott free". this is the attitude of many these days. everyone is such an entitled douche bag. if someone annoys them the tiniest bit they think they should be disciplined.

can you imagine these people in the real world? every time someone does any little thing that bothers them they go running teacher/boss to try to get them punished. its pathetic. man up you little crybabies. some people are annoying in this world. get over it.

I think the biggest mistake was the removal of the Tribunal. Sure it wasn't perfect. But it gave the allusion that something would be done for trolls/toxic people. And instead they have been working on this automated Tribunal for (2 is it) years now. This being taken out of the players hands has lead to the FEELING that there is less accountability.

I was playing with OP and the specific thing that happened was there were 3 of us playing ARAM (and seriously, I don't want to hear people say wahh it was only ARAM, so what, we're playing LoL. I could say the same thing about any complaining and say, it's not LCS so stop complaining. But I digress.) This Shen tried to trade with everyone he could and no one wanted him. When the game loads in, he says, "no trade, no win, good night" and he left the game. The first 10 seconds, he leaves. So what fun is it to play 4v5? It's this kind of behavior that spawns Lyte's version of toxicity. Yea, this guy will probably get a temporary ban, but I won't get the 20 minutes of frustrating bs we had to deal with to get out of there. I work 84+ hours a week, so yes, those 20 minutes mean a great deal when I can't spend much time online after work.

I feel like the tribunal would just solve this.
